Jim, what is an E2b? I have two different E2's, but didn't know there were codes.

Tbere were two versions of the E2, movable spring and fixed spring. The way to tell an E2 is the tabs on the sides of the spring and the fact that the guard bar does not have grooves. This one had the fixed spring with no grooves on the bar.

    Cold Water Rinse
Green Mountain Lime Vetiver Shaving Soap
    B-400 by Tom
    Gillette Techmatic
    Techmatic Band
    CWR
    Granddad's Blend AS

Today, I revisited the famous Gillette Techmatic band razor. I first used one of these back in the 60s. I was not impressed with it then. However, today's shave was as good as it gets. Technique trumps tools. In the 60s, I had the tools but not the technique. There you go... I really did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with this shave.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Green Mountain Lime Vetiver Shaving Soap face lathered well with B-400 by Tom brush. I did two passes with the Gillette Techmatic razor with a Techmatic Band SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Razorock WTP – Orange Sunrise
    Schick – Type L
    Nivea Post Balm
    Pinuad Clubman Classic

First time using a Schick injector and I have to admit it was an enjoyable experience. This is a razor I got on the cheap. It cleaned up nice and the before picture is below. That is one thing I like about the hobby, hunting out bargains and bringing razors back into service.

I thought I would have a problem using the Schick but it very easy to use and gave great results this morning. The Razorock WTP is a great soap and I love the orange scent. I completed two passes and cleaned up a few areas on the neck. Followed up with Nivea and Clubman Classic. The Schick will definitely stay in the rotation. Now I need to try my hussie out but I need a girly man pink shaving mug!

Y'all take care and have a great day!

I was in a rush to try out my new soaps and must of damaged the blade when installing it, because the shave wasnt anywhere near as good as I usually get from my F. The razor didnt have a blade in it when i loaded a new one which im guessing didnt assist in guiding it in straight.

Thanks. I two non-fixed spring E2's, but only one has the grooves. It is the much more aggressive of the two.

    SOTD - 19th March 2019

    Razor - Ever-Ready 1912 (USA)
    Blade - GEM Stainless (3)
    Brush - Bluebeard Doubloon
    Soap - Palmolive Shave Stick
    Post - Dior Sauvage

A wonderful shave this evening. 2 passes and a little blade buffing has left me wonderfully smooth and content. I am really loving the post shave feel that this razor and blade gives. The Palmolive was excellent as usual - in fact, it offers superior slickness and protection to my TOBS creams (which cost 20x the price of a lowly Palmolive Stick).

    Enjoy your shaves gents![IMG]
