That is not an E5 it is either G4 with a faded blue colored handle or the mythical black handle G7 that no one has identified yet. It is definitely not an E model, the way I know look at the spring all E models and the first G1v1 variant had Schick Injector written on the spring. The later models 47 or 48 and up had Eversharp Schick written on the spring. The other thing is the Eversharp didn't buy out the Magazine Repeater Company until I think 45 or 46. Point is Eversharp branding coincides with Schick razors in 1946 and with the introduction of the G model razors. You don't see the Eversharp name associated with Schick prior.

Didn't get around to posting this yesterday.
I had a great daily double inspite of a small tragedy, my more aggressive Enders Speed JB weld blade adapter broke mid shave. Luckily I heard the click of the tab snapping and looked at the razor before the next pass, so no blood shed. I finished the shave with a Schick Krona with feather blade.

Went for a nice mild shave this morning.
Mild scent mild razor. Very nice shave.

I thought someone would pick up on this and at first I thought it was a G but the plant did not manufacture G models in Canada and the handle is black and is made at the Niagara falls plant in Ontario Canada with the 1937 pat stamped on the base plate. There are a few others who have a similar black handle of this Variant and I think the Canadian plant made some injectors that could of been from other model parts and more than likely was built near the end of the E type models at this plant. Canadians did not follow Appleby's book rules too closely as for typical American Schick models. Appleby also mentions that the flaps on the E4 spring were removed and so possibly the E5 also. I do find this one similar in aggression as my E2. When I first shaved with this razor it was very aggressive until I examined it closer and it was not seating the blade on the blade seat flat because the blade was riding upwards on a grooved blade stop. I did some adjustments to tame it a little with a jewelers knife file.
Regardless it is a rare one and we can name it a Hybrid Canadian EG Schick injector.
To make things more complicated here is a blackhanded E 5 with the Eversharp stamped on the spring flange with the E side flaps on the spring another E5 variant.:signs015:

Doesn't matter, the Eversharp logo is not registered as trademark until 1946. And the merger didn't happen until at least 1946. Patent date is irrelevant the fact it has the Eversharp name on it is what is important.

The G model razors were already in production prior to the merger which is why the first variants still say Schick Injector on the spring. Only E razors being sold at this point would have been leftover pre war inventory and military surplus razors.

Here is a 46 47 G1 no mention of Eversharp on the spring

That a black handle G model exists doesn't surprise me since they made a US one here pictured in this ad from 1955 on the tree.

It is on the bottom row of razors, that is not the turquoise one and it is not a Schick 66 which was only produced until 1951. You have the undocumented black handle Type G that should be classified as a G7. It is not complicated at all when you've done the actual research which I have. You'll see what I mean by tomorrow if I can get the addendum thread started before I go to bed.

For the record here is what a black handle E5 really looks like. It is actually nothing more than a black handle moveable spring version of the E2. The date range would be 37 - 39, it was probably a holiday only item and most likely produced in 37 only.

I decided to retry a Schick Proline one of my favourite blades in the Occams. Felt a lot more unforgiving than the Proguard , and the finish on the cheeks and neck no better. To cap it all whilst finishing off around the chin I sustained one of those cuts that just won't stop bleeding. It appears that
Feather Blades rule for me with the Occams. Did not think that I could get a cut like this with any of my AC/SE Razors, needless to say the blade has been
removed from the Occams and will be replaced by the Recommended Proguard.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Virgilio Valobra Menthol Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #369 Brush. I did two passes with the TNNSER 3D razor with a Gem CS SE Blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
