Remembrance day on a MMMonday morning -20 C, so I choose a few razors that soldiers would of used during World War 1&2.
Not sure they would of shaved every day but at certain events they had to shave by military dress code I believe.

Razors : Everready 1914 + Gem MMCP 1945 Peerless model.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (1)
    Brush: Omega boar
    Soap: Williams mug
Preshave: Brush wash the face with CeraVe hand bar soap + a dollop of Aloe Vera gel on beard
Post shave: Alum + cold water rinse
Post shave : Pinaud Clubman with witch hazel + Nivea balm
    Results : CCS,DFS,BBs + alum indicated minor irritation + 2 blemish weepers = [IMG]

First use of the (Chinese) Suneko blades (not sure where I got these), stacked two in the Shake Sharp, first pass not particularly sharp or smooth but they got better and by the end of the head shave I was perfectly content, Best Shave A Man Can Get Even With Unknown Chinese Blade. Love the Proraso also.[IMG]

    Monday NOvember 11

No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. Up today is a Henckels Rapide with a GEM blade and a wedge adapter.

    Bowl/Scuttle - Simpsons mug
    Soap - Williams
    Brush - Rubberset 200-4
Blade - GEM SS SE (2) w/wedge adapter
    Razor - Henckels Rapide
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Furbo Blu A/S

    Shave rating 5 of 5

First time using this wedge adapter with a SE blade; seemed to work well. I did a two pass shave today, the first pass, WTG, was excellent. No irritation. The second pass, XTG, was excellent as well, finishing BBS. The Willliams shave soap did an ok job but I needed to re-apply it several times during my second pass as it was drying up on my face. The alum was a little vocal again on one side of my neck but that was it. Finished up with the Furbo Blu A/S.

Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone.

I agree completely! My Streamline delivers a terrifically close shave, but technique does count with this razor!

    Enjoy your shaves,

Type B1 I would tentatively opine is the best shaver of the earlier Schick magazine razors I've used so far. I still need to give the B2 and C3 a go before saying 100% for sure.

This shave was with the blade shimmed I took another injector blade and ground down the edge enough to it wouldn't overlap the cutting of another blade. Shimming this razor does improve the shave but it is still nowhere near an BBS finish. With the shim the razor is all bark and no bite. Serious blade feel but it scrapes more so than cuts. I have a few original Schick blades that were designed for this and will try one in it tomorrow, hopefully the blade edge is still good on them.

One other observation concerning the plunger it is almost impossible to get it took work correctly with modern blades as far as loading them but it works fine with the older blades. This is the only magazine razor I own that won't consistently load newer Schick blades using the plunger mechanism.

Shave was bad enough I decided to do a second one with a vintage blade made for this razor. Best shave so far but still far short of a BBS finish. Now that I have a baseline on how this razor should perform I will try one more shave with a known good blade and compare the results. I may wind up doing the most blasphemous thing you could do with one of these razors and swap the razor head with a B1 since I really like the handle. It has a nice feel in the hand unlike the square handles on the B and C magazine razors.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #313 Badger Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Gold Gem Featherweight razor with a CVS CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Well I learned something new today. I didn't know the shave geometry was different or that the A used a thicker blade. I Love the look of the type A though. I just assumed the switch from round to square kept a set shave geometry but that the square was easier to manufacture.
