    Schick L1 (1972 - 1982ish), personna blade, shave 8
    l172.jpg

Having used an earlier L1 (1967 - 1972) before I wasn't expecting much of this razor, I am pleasantly surprised how different these razors really are. The later model L1 I don't want to say just yet that it is exactly the same as my L8 Schick Golden but it is very close. Smooth and efficient unlike the earlier L1 razors with an almost BBS finish.

Here is how to tell the difference between the earlier model L1 razors from the later ones. The logo change is how to tell if it is a 67 - 72 or 72 and up.

Though I have quite a heavy beard this lightweight ER 1912 has no problems getting rid of that growth. In fact its weight makes it very easy to use a light touch when carrying out final polishing up work. This is one Razor that I will keep in my Vintage SE rotation, as I am trying to cut down on the number of Razors I use.

    Arko Extra Performance Shaving Cream
    Tom's 3D Printed Brush

    Personna
    CWR
    Lilac Vegetal

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Arko Extra Performance Shaving Cream face lathered well with Tom's 3D Printed Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Supply V2 razor with the three dot plate and a Personna blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Lilac Vegetal After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I have not used the Micromatic for a while, but was doubly conscious not to rush. Was surprisingly smooth and comfortable apart from working around the tip of the chin, when I was quite conscious that it would be quite easy to see the claret if I got too heavy handed.Overall very pleased with the quite squeaky clean feel of the skin after the Shave.

Thanks Gary, Tabac is a great and one of the hardest soaps to scrap into the lather bowl. You get your monies worth and lather properties are stellar IMO.

    EverReady SE shave today.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
    Soap - Le Pere Lucien
Brush - Jayaruh #330 White Oak
Blade - GEM SE SS (3)
    Razor - EverReady 1933-34 SE
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Pinaud Clubman A/S

    Shave rating 5 of 5

Surprised by today's shave. The blade is getting a little old and this razor and blade just gave me one of the best shaves I've ever received. Very smooth, could feel and hear the blade but it wasn't overly aggressive. A two pass shave, WTG and XTG, and it was easily BBS. The LPL produced great lather that was nice and thick and slick. The Jayaruh brush is a really nice brush. The alum was SILENT. Finished up with the Clubman.

Happy DECember and great shaves everyone.

    Schick L1 (1972 - 1982ish), personna blade, shave 9
    [IMG]

Tomorrow I will put this razor up against the L8 Schick Golden see if there is any difference in the shave. This razor is like a dark horse candidate that comes out of nowhere and wins a race. This razor really is like the L8, it isn't perfect but it is just overall a well balanced razor when in comes to closeness, comfort, ease of use, etc. This razor has officially become my new travel razor for the above reasons and that these razors are still cheap and easily obtainable even in the wild.
