Todays Shave confirmed my previous thoughts regarding the British equivalent go a "G" Bar, love the looks and feel but a bi, t on the mild side for me.The Shave as usual with this Razor felt good, but despite using a fresh blade I could not get the same quality of finish that I get with other Vintage SE. So I may well be dropping this from my regular Gem/SE rotations, with an Injector and AC/SE rotation I have far too many Razors in use.

    Cold Water Rinse
    Arko High Performance Shave Cream
    Tom's 3D Printed Brush
    C.V. Heljestrand
    Gem SE
    CWR
    Lilac Vegetal

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Arko Shave Cream face lathered well with Tom's 3D Printed Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the C.V. Heljestrand Lather Catcher razor with a Gem SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Lilac Vegetal After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I went with the Schick Golden 500 today with a Chick blade. Preshave was just a little coconut oil. Lathered up with Mer Shavings fougere orange on two band badger. Finished off with a witch hazel splash.
    Very comfortable fun shave.

Sunday shave DEC 15-2019 Stick Schick injector and it is one of my favorite Schick injectors with a Japan twinII blade and it is sort like the Everready battery TV commercial "it lasts & lasts.......". It is a good daily driver IMO with a twin blade if that is what a fellow wants.

Razor : Stick Schick injector theme L type -MFG 1973
Blade : Schick twin II (26) mfg Japan
    Soap : Tabac
Brush : Yaqi tuxedo knot 24mm+ "Sagrada Familia"theme Barcelona Cathedral pillars.(been there beautiful & Awe)
Preshave: Brush wash the face with CeraVe hand bar soap + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard area.
Post shave : Razorock Emperor aftershave with witch hazel + Nivea balm for winter months.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + minor irritation + no weepers = [IMG]

A very pleasant Monday morning Shave with the 1914. I am not surprised that some prefer this to the more aggressive 1924. The Shave was very smooth and comfortable, and it was nice to be able to use it with precision to eliminate the last bits of stubborn growth, a great close all round finish
    being attained.

Have to agree that it is a great razor and a touch easier to use than the 1924 shovelhead.

GEMonday for myself today, I really like my Gem Damaskeene OC and it was a little keener today with a new Gem blade and technique maybe off a little? Still a wonderful great shave!

Blade : Gem SS PTFE (1)
    Soap : Proraso Red Sandalwood
Brush : Yaqi Tuxedo knot 24mm+
Preshave: Brush wash the face with CeraVe hand bar soap + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard area.
Post shave: Alum + cold water rinse.
Post shave: Proraso red with witch hazel

Guess I am one of the lucky ones to be in possession of this remarkable little Razor. With a superb Vitos lather it would have been hard not to have a good Shave with an excellent close Shave, the equal of those I get with my Vintage SE.

Schick Golden Type L8, personna blade, shave 10
    [IMG]

To compare against the L1 made from 1972 and up either the blade was starting to go or the L1 had just a little more bite to it. Either way both have earned what I call Randy Velarde razor status because they are just overall well balanced razors across multiple categories. If anyone doesn't know who Randy Velarde is, he was a utility player for the New York Yankees that could play any position on the field. As much as I like this razor I think the L1 made 72 and up is the better one to seek out since they are readily available at much cheaper pricing than the L8.

As you can see here the L1 made 72 and up has the same logo as the L8 which made in 1977 - 1978.
    l1l8.jpg

As long as the logo looks like that on the razor head it is a 72 and up model.

For clarity here is a 67 - 72 L1 (left) next to a 72 and up L1 (right) to see how the logos differ.
