Yankee Razor, gem stainless ptfe blade, shave 4


I used an injector blade as a shim to hold the blade more securely. Without one the blade edge can easily slip over the stop. I plan to try this razor with the shim loaded under the blade next see if it works the same or not. Razor was mild on a steep angle. End result almost a BBS finish, for something this mild it performs quite well.

Though its early days with the Hawk V3-OC, only 6 Shaves in and its looking to be one of my best performing conventional AC/SE Razors [exclude Occams Oren & Hiram]. With a very light no pressure touch, I had a very rewarding Shave with a superbly close all round finish, up there with the best.

The Virgilio Valobra Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #408 Two-band Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Schick G4 with a Personna blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

It is a 1904. The 1903 Yankee lather catchers had pat. pending on the back.

You should also be familiar with this smiling face from another razor brand used to advertised these razors.

GEMonday May 18th 2020.

Razor: Gem Push button -Mfg 1958-65 I like the looks of this Razor and with it being black & gold sets it off to my eye.
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE(5) - One of the best all around blades in my den.
Soap: Razorock Lavender- one of my favorites for scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi timberwolf whiskers 24mm - Very nice brush to apply lather to my face, soft tips & has not let me down.
Pre-shave: Brush wash my whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard area.
Prep: cold water rinse after each pass of 3 + clean up.
Post shave: Razorock King Louis Lavender aftershave with witch hazel + a tiny dollop of Nivea balm on beard area.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + 1 blemish weeper= Just a excellent shave with my Gem push-button.

Monday's Shave

First shave with the new (to me) Schick Type L razor. Primary impression is a good one, with the razor providing a mild but efficient shave. The razor felt slightly tuggy at times, so it could be a dud new blade or will work better with a slicker soap.
