I had one of those in my check out basket, but I resisted. I just don't like those Feather SE blades. I hope you do.

Clark King Razor Mk2, gem stainless ptfe blade, shave 2
    cskmk2.JPG cskmk2a.jpg

This is the 2nd of 3 Clark King SE razors produced. They came in 2 styles either as a dollar king which was nickel plated or silver king which was silver plated. This one is a silver king. This razor is also the most aggressive of all 3 Clark razors. This razor is on par with the Micromatic Open Comb. BBS finish but it is not the most aggressive or closest shave of this style of SE patented by Joseph Molkenthin Jr., that goes to the Liberty made by International Safety Razor.

Great setup, Jim. I have the American version of that razor model. It is a heavy one. It has quadruple silver plating (from what I saw in the old ads) and is a booger to keep the tarnish away.

I'm in that same boat. The only time I use those Feather blades are in the AutoStrop razors that require them - which is why I prefer to use the models that I can use a modified GEM blade. I really expected more when I first tried them, as the DE Feathers are great. I thought about trying the carbon steel version of those blades, so I'll have to remember to add a pack to a future order.

Thanks Drew. I also have an American Version of the Silver VB1. It has a little more tarnish. I ordered some Blitx Silver Shine From Amazon, but I'm a little nervous about using it.

    Williams Mug Soap
    Ever-Ready C-40
    Ever-Ready 1914
    GEM Blue Star SE
    CWR
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal AS

The Williams Mug Soap face-lathered well with my Ever-Ready C-40 Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Ever-Ready 1914 Razor with a GEM Blue Star SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Lilac Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I have the new Oneblade core Verison 2 I bought back in Nov 2019 and have well over 50 shaves with it, # 1 daily driver of lately. I like varity when shaving and use it approx once every 5 days(Excellent mild carefree shave). You can apply a little pressure to it and it seems not to bite me at least, I use a modified Gem Personna SS PTFE blade YY OB (2).jpg because I like Gem blade over the FHS-10 blade for longevity. The FHS-10 is good for me only a couple of shaves and then seems to drop off quickly.
    Enjoy your Oneblade Core.

PALs of the world unite! Without a doubt the PAL Injecto-Matic provides one of the absolute closest shaves you can get. Although I rated the Schick H aka Hussy slightly better overall in a shave off some years ago. I’ll be rubbing my face for hours :happy036:

    Hot water preparation
    Argan Oil PSO
    Savile Row 3824
    Castle Forbes Lavender Shaving Cream

Gem Featherweight mk1, gem stainless ptfe blade, shave 3
    gfw.jpg

Gem made 2 versions of the featherweight as seen here.
    fw1.jpg fw2.jpg
mk1 is on the left in both pictures.

Based on my limited research I found that the mk1 version was produced at least from 1950 - 56. Sometime afterward between 56 - 58 they should have switch over to the mk2 version.

Shave was mild but very close for what it was, not quite BBS but much closer than your average mild razor. I haven't used the mk2 Featherweight yet, that one is up next but have used the G-bar before and can say the G-bar though mild is not as mild as this razor. Whether one shaves closer than the other is still to be determined.

The Feather carbon steel blades aren't any better for sharpness or longevity.
