Injector & SE Party !!!

SOTD, Tue, June 9th 2020

Razor: Oneblade Core version 2 - Mfg 2018> My Great daily driver #1 of lately, works well for a milder razor.
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE(2) modified.
Soap: Santa Maria del Fiore(Razorock)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Tuxedo knot "Sagrada Familia" named after the famous cathedral in Barcelona Spain.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of Aloe Vera on beard area.
Prep: cold water rinse after each pass of 3 + pick ups.
Post shave: Razorock Emperor with witch hazel + a tiny dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = great shave with my Oneblade core.

This unassuming razor still delivers using a spined blade. One of the best mild but plenty of blade feel shavers.

This Hawk is proving to be a very good Daily Shaver as I am 5 Shaves in without any problems. Always Smooth and comfortable I decided to push on a bit, and was pleased to say without any problems I was able to get an Ultra Close All Round finish. I found it to be rather good at clearing up around the neck, an area where some other Razors struggle.

Testing out the razor. This razor after 1 shave I can say sits somewhere between the 2nd and 4th variant I and J razors as described in the dummies guide. This is up there with some of the most aggressive and efficient Schick injectors ever made. Plenty of blade feel but falls short of the 2nd variant Type I and J razors for overall efficiency but a lot more aggressiveness and closeness of shave than the 4th variant Type I and J razors while still having about the same amount of blade feel. The angle I used was the one built into the cap which allows for plenty of blade on the face because of the large blade gap. One thing I can see in the design that might improve the shave is to texture the guard so it can stretch the skin ahead of the blade like the Schick injectors. With that said it still shaves very close though not quite BBS for me. That may improve with more uses to see if the razor can be dialed in some more.

I broke into my trials with The Hawk V3-A to use this new arrival. I have used the V2 Occams-Oren which I rate very highly so was unsure of what to expect from the original. The Shave was very smooth and comfortable and the overall finish very good, better around the upper lip than expected.
This rather unconventional Razor would be good for those wishing a change from Cartridge Razors, and those wanting a light S/S AC/SE. Definitely a Keeper for me.

Razor: Gem Junior bar lather catcher- Mfg 1907-11ish .Just a great razor with a modern Gem coated blade, fantastic shave today for going back in time with the turn of the century technology.
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE (5) Great blade.
Soap: Razorock Don Marco - I enjoy the citrus scent & great lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi Timberwolf whiskers 24mm synthetic, another great brush to use.
Pre shave: shower, brush wash my whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser+ a dollop of clear Aoe Vera gel on beard.
Prep: cold water rinse after each pass of 3 + pick ups.
Post shave: Italian barber Amici aftershave with Witch hazel + a very small dollop of Nivea Balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = just a great shave with my Gem Jr bar.

Very nice, Tom! Did adding the magnets improve the razor's performance? I may have missed a post somewhere if you addressed that already.

 

No not really. It really just help keep the cap down. There was no problem really before the magnets. As the post and pocket fit is almost net. The magnets will be very helpful when others print them. As the razors may print a bit different. If the post and pockets are a bit loose. The magnets will hold everything snug.
