I think it might be the soap. Normally I use C/O Bigelow but lately since I had a tub of Stirling Vanilla Sandlewood I've been using that instead. I think the soap is too thick and slick for mild razors. I had another milder razor I know performs much better not perform up to standard using this soap.

Normally I get a much better shave out this razor. I think the soap is an issue here since it is the only thing I am using that is different from my usual routine. I had the same issue yesterday with the Treet shave being less than satisfactory so I will reuse it and this razor with my normal shave soap. The soap I used is the Stirling Vanilla Sandlewood and I think it is is too thick and slick for mild razors like these. The soap I normally use is C/O Bigelow cream or Van Der Hagen/Williams puck soaps.

Just a quick post to show everyone what I bought at an antique store today. Got my very first Lather Catcher today. I bought it and there was a hand written note on a piece of paper in the case that said " Please do not destory" . Upon unfolding the paper inside it had written "this safety razor was a present from my pal Emil Westman January 8 1911." Its nice to have some history with the razor. It cleaned up beautifully. Now I'm off to take my first shave with my new Lather Catcher. 20200707_194602.jpg 20200707_194647.jpg 20200707_194730.jpg 20200707_194753.jpg

That is awesome. I love my two Gem Jr. Bars. The hand written note is a really cool bonus with yours. And the razor looks very nice.
Also I believe that handle has a stoping attachment hidden in the end of it. It should unscrew. I've seen them in pictures but don't have that handle personally.

You are absolutely correct the stropping attachment is in the handle. She cleaned up really nice and the shave tonight from her was amazing

No Williams today for a change.I really like this Hawk V3 with the shorter handle, really smooth and I had no problems working at getting an ultra close all round finish. One of the best conventional S/S AC/SE Razors that I have used, and certainly the best value one.

Changed up the soap and still the same result. Blade is no good and not a soap issue. Either it was no good from the get go or I burnt it out on the first shave in a razor that wasn't really mean't to use this blade. Either way the blade was a Dudley.
