Injector & SE Party !!!

SE SOTD, Sat, July 11th 2020

Razor: Tom White TNNSER 3D printed - MFG 2019> Light razor & having a little fun with it, dialing it in still.
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE (4) excellent blade.
Soap: Razorock blue barber- great lather qualities with nice mid range scent.
Brush: Razorock Plissoft 24mm- this is one of the best brushes I used over the last 3.5 years.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of Aloe Vera gel on beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 3 + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock blue barber with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = great shave with my TNNSER razor & Gem blade.

I deliberately missed a Shave yesterday and cannot really remember when that last happened. Felt the extra growth putting up resistance during initial clearance strokes. Reasonably satisfied with finish. results.though it confirms that AC/SE blades do produce better finished Shaves for me. But I do enjoy Shaving with Razors using the old Gem Style SE blade.

The TSD Iced Lime Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Tom's B400 Two-band Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the 1907 Gem Jr. Lather Catcher with a Vintage GEM Cutlery SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Schick Sunday shave,July 12th 2020- The Schick 500 injector with hydro-magic is my longest safety razor in my rotation measuring 5 3/8 inches in length. A unisex razor that anyone in the family can use IMO for reaching those tough areas.

Razor: Schick Golden 500 injector hydro magic - Mfg 1957-64
Blade: Personna SS PTFE injector
Soap: Razorock blue barber "what the puck"
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow 26 mm synthetic brown whiskers- great lathering brush with those soft tips I enjoy!
Pre shave: Brush wash my face with Cerave hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard area.
Prep: cold water rinse after each pass of 3 + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock blue barber with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = great shave with my Schick golden 500 injector + hydro magic razor.

Lather: TOBS Lemon Lime
Astringent: Osma Alum block
Splash: Ogallala Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorn
Second time using this razor and I just love it. I usually use straight razors so I'm still working on my technique but I got a CCS BBS shave with this little Gem. The TOBS Lemon Lime whipped up nicely with the newly restored Rubberset 200-2 with the Maggard Razor Co. 24mm 2 Band Badger knot. Long live the Lather Catcher ❤

 

Type I Hydromagic, Schick Proline B-20, shave 4


Here is the 2nd variant of the Type I Hydromagic produced from 58 to about 61. This razor is noticeably more aggressive than the earlier versions. I also call this razor beard buster because it can cut through long tufts of hair unlike any other safety razor. My technique with this razor has improved with a fairly pleasant and drama free shave something I normally don't get with this razor without sacrificing results. What I did find out is that the other Type J '500' Hydromagic I have lumped into the same variant as this one is not the same so I have to go and update that guide. The Type J '500' I used prior turns out to be much smoother but just as efficient as this razor. I don't know if it will bust beards as well as this razor but for small patch growth it performs just as well.

This is one of the later SE Vintage Razors that gives me a decent Shave, am afraid that some like the G Bar is just too mild for me - a shame because I love its looks and feel during a Shave. Enjoyed todays Shave with this Razor that I mislaid for a while, a very nice close finish attained without a glitch.

The Virgilio Valobra Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #224 synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the TNNSER with a GEM Stainless SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The Gem G bar is a mild razor for sure, It has a similar top cap like the 2nd generation Gem Featherweight or the Gem Contour flip cap. It needs a 3 pass shave with pickups to receive a nice shave IMO. 1st generation Gem Featherweight is a little more aggressive but gives myself a great shave.
