I did something different today and tried using some ultrasound gel on one side of the face and pure aloe vera gel on the other applied with my fingers and with no cream. I have to say both work remarkably well by themselves. I have to give the nod to the ultra sound gel since on the later passes it didn't cause any sting when applying unlike the aloe vera gel. I also noticed the side using the ultrasound gel came out closer than the side using the aloe vera. Whether that has to do with the gels or razor/technique I'll try to determine next shave when I switch sides for the each gel.

Thanks, it's a British Gentlemen's Relish pot. Another rabbit hole I've fallen into.
The soap is Vitos Super. Soft enough to press in.

Have moved on from my series of Shaves with the Occams family to one of my older AC/ SE Razors- The ATT SE1 which is perhaps a bit more aggressive than the Oren I last used. The Shave was not too bad but i did not push it too much, as my skin is a bit dry probably due too much time indoors with central heating.

I decided to use only ultrasound gel today to test and found the shave was fairly even on both sides of the face with a BBS finish achieved. This stuff works really well just need to make sure the blade is good and wet or it can gunk up and affect the blade cut. Next shave willl use the aloe vera gel by itself to see if it works as well and if the prior shave using it on the half the face was a fluke and possibly due to the gunk up issue when the blade is not wet enough.

Today I used only pure aloe vera gel with no cream to see how well it would work. It also works well like ultrasound gel by itself but with one caveat, the aloe vera will cause stinging on shaved skin unlike ultrasound gel. I know it works fine with no sting whne added to cream to give it extra slickness have tried that already. Both give about the same closeness of shave when used by themselves. Nod goes to ultrasound gel though because of lack of sting when reapplied on multi-passes.

    Razor: G.E. Jones Shake Sharp
    Blade: Wizamet (Double Stacked)
    Brush: SV 2.0 Bamboo
Soap: Lakewood SOCP (1508.5 Project on Steroids)
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
    AS 2: Nivea 2 into 1 Splash
    Fragrance: Azzaro Visit Edt

This mornings shave was just spectacular except for using the same soap that 'm getting nose blind too..........Great lather and doughnut hole continues to expand. I saw that Jeff (JGreenePA) was packing his Shake Sharp with some straights for a road trip and it reminded me I hadn't used it again since it's maiden voyage after purchasing it. Man alive this thing is an amazing tool for me. I'm amazed at how close a shave is gotten with such ease and comfort. So glad I had my curiosity stirred by Jeff and even better that I found such a good example of one for a fair price. Eye's on the lookout for the other versions if I can find one. If not, I'm still tickled to have this one. Biggest problem with the razor is the question, do you consider it a DE or SE ? [IMG] Humphrey's, Nivea and Azzaro Visit rounded out the great shave. Hope all have a great day and weekend !!

You think it is good now try it with a shim. Load it blade first then shim to take the flex out of the blade when shaving. You can also try it with 2 blades to do the same, supposedly the second blade edge will help it cut better besides stiffening up the main cutting blade.

Did not have the best of Shaves last time out, as my face was rather dry and sore. Today was a good experience and this was the quality of Shave that i associate with this Razor.

This time around I used ultrasound gel to add some extra glide by mixing an equal amount with some taconic pump cream before brush lather. Extra glide it added and then some. This stuff is really versatile and good alternative or complimentary to any shave creams. End result BBS finish achieved and best shave yet with this razor.

The Wilkinson Sword Shave Stick was applied with the Jayaruh 340 2-band Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the 1902 Kampfe Brothers/Star Lather Catcher with a Personna GEM SS PTFE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Citrus Musk EdC. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
