It helps if you load the Adjustable around the middle setting..These were made in New York USA by the American Safety Razor Company..:p

Good to hear (Thanks) will note for next time. Surprised on how smooth it felt on the face. Started off by using the loaded blade that was in the razor (dull) and felt tugging. Switched to this blade and wow what a difference. To bad they don't make these anymore.
I do recall you noted previously not to use the double blades on my older "E" models.

There is a Japanese made Schick twin injector blade currently being made. You can find them on eBay. :happy088:

Glad you like them..Hard not too I reckon..They aint half smooth aint they..The Difference is amazing as you say...You probably wont want to Go back to a Single blade in the Adjustable now..That's correct on the Type E & G models..The heads are tighter and they will be damaged for sure..:)

True....these mild injectors are different than a mild DE razor....with the mild injector you can still get a great BBS and if not careful you can still get bitten...lol
I got the worse slice out of my chin when I was rushing for a date back in the early 70's with an L type...one of the mildest ever injectors...Didn't make the date cause I couldn't stop the bleeding.......lol! But the scar kinda gave me a Cary Grant chin......so it worked for me later.....roflol !

Billy, is it possible that this is the G4 ? I know most G4 66's have the silver dimpled head....But awhile back I had a G4 66 that had a smooth gold handle with navy blue handle just like this one...and it was a 1949 G4 that sold for 66 cents new, therefore the 66 designation....

I can't see the spring marking in this photo and I know the box is probably a give away too...but mine didn't have the box so it doesn't add to my detective work either....ha,ha...

Yeah..I here what you are saying & this where the water gets muddy..I have seen a number of these Navy handled Type G 1s in that self same presentation box..The Route 66 variants did include a variant without the crinkle finish as you correctly point out...The Route 66 Type G 4s came in a different box that had Route 66 written all over it...The handle on the Route 66 tended to have a deeper Bluing & another anal difference about it was the rivet/pin that held the handle together...I mean its all Subtle Cosmetic difference's here but the 66 had a different box..:)

my input on the '66' version.

I found this NOS '66' with box, blades and the blank blade still loaded in a flea market on the Oregon coast in October. As you can see it is not the crinkle variant and has the '66' box.

I still haven't had a chance to shave with it! :angry032:

Proceed with extreme caution, especially at first until you get a feel for it. The early Auto-Strops are great shavers, but I'd rank them as some of the most aggressive razors in my entire collection. They will bite you if you let your attention wander.

Interestingly, each Auto-Strop model is less aggressive than the previous one, with the last model, the VC4 being so mild that some have called it "The Tech of the Auto-Strops."

    Have a great shave! :happy088:

After being on an injector binge for weeks I picked up my 1914 this morning. Ah, everything I remembered it to be. Nice audible feedback and I can feel the whiskers being cut as the blade glides smoothly all over my face. This is one great razor. It amazes me how many good razors are out there - and this is one of my best. No nicks, cuts or weepers and one super close shave.

Super condition. Any special blades or do the regular Gem SE blades fit here ?

I have seen so many of those Type G 1 Types in the exact same Box with both the Blue & Black handles...:)

Thanks, Bob, for the information. I had already decided to proceed very cautiously with this razor. I just used a shallow angle and no pressure. The hardest part was under the nose, but I managed that well too. It was a great shave.
