Not after using Injectors but yes after using SEs. Last week I acquired a beautiful Aristocrat Jr. This morning was my shave with it. I have to that after using SEs, it just seemed like another SuperSpeed.

This is Sunday's shave. The Schick G1 and the Personna blade are treating me like a king. Wonderful shave.

I just had a thought. What if, after only my second shave with this Schick G1 and getting possibly the best shaves of my life, I never return to DE shaving again. Then I would have a big collection of what would be has been DE razors.

I think you should reserve February for whatever comes after C. ;)

I know what you mean. Sometimes I pick up a razor I haven't used in a while and get an amazing shave - there are just a lot of great razors out there. :happy036:

I guess we're in the same boat Gabe. I really notice the "shimmy" effect now as described in the Schick injector commercial. I love how firm the blade is in place in injectors. Especially in the Pal Adjustable. But I still love the beautiful all metal design of most DE razors. I might have to give the Supply provisions injector a try when it comes out:signs002:

Sounds like a recipe for a great shave. Love Proraso and those Personna blades. Can't beat the value on them both!

My experience was similar but then I asked myself "what's the goal here" and realized that it was the experience and not just the end results.
Different razors etc.. add for a different experience even if not always the perfect shave. That being said I find that I end up with great shaves now, even if I took a different path to my destination.

Today was the day. :happy036: After applying some of the hone and strop restoration tips from this awesome thread by @gregindallas it was time to try out the Rolls Razor I bought at the end of the year. I'd honed it many, many times and stropped it quite a few times as well and the difference was easily noticeable. I have to say, it takes an act of faith to put this thing to your face for the first time. It's pretty much just a straight on a stick. :shocked003:

    Rolls Razor backside.jpg

Right from the start it was tugging and pulling like a first grader with their mom at the fair. I soldiered on with trying angle changes, stroke length and speed, pressure, etc. but to no avail. It got worse under my chin and, despite my generally stubborn nature, I called it quits halfway through the first pass. My two day stubble was still easily visible where I had put blade to face. Darn. I guess I need to invest in a honing service or some stones or lapping film - something I was hoping to avoid. :(

So, what to salvage the day's shave with? Ah, my 1924 was at the ready and a nice choice to follow the 1914 I had shaved with the other day. Ever reliable, aggressive yet smooth, it made short work of it and left me with no nicks, no cuts, no weepers and one really close shave.

    Bio Palmyra Shave Cream
    T&H Wellington Super Badger
Rolls Razor (half of first pass)
Ever Ready 1924 (rest of shave)
GEM Stainless PTFE (3?) with half spine shim
    T&H Classic After Shave Balm

    Happy shaving - Karl

You know what Bob, that's kind of what I started thinking right after I wrote that post. Don't overthink, focus on the moment, enjoy the shave.
    Thanks!

Incredible shave today with the Dutch Championship L and the Dutch blade. The blade is on its 7th use and is just as sharp and smoooth as it was on the 1st shave. I used the made in France Monsavon shave soap today and it is also a good performer.Fantastic shave today.

I'm less than a year into this so I don't have as much experience as most guys here. After 40 years of shaving with electric and carts, my skin never felt so good once I spent two months with a vintage Gillette Tech. After another month with DE adjustables I decided to try injectors and had yet another revelation with the ease of the shave.

I still have so much to learn about both. I can see the potential to want to find a few razors that will provide regular, everyday great shaves efficiently and economically. But I'll probably also want to continue to experiment and keep this interesting with both types of razors. I'll never want to go back to the comatose shaving of my first 40 years.

That's what I am finding with those NOS Dutch blades..After that number of shaves they are still sharper than any current blade from New..Funny you mentioned that soap..I have started to use that French Monsavon shave soap & its the Absolute Dogs Danglies...Great tallow soap....:p

Billy, do you possibly have a photo or two to show the difference between the older and newer models?

After using my Ever Ready 1912 for the second shave today, i get a feeling that i'm cought on SE Razors.

The feeling when you shave with a Single Edge Razor is completely different. Somewhat smoother, cleaner, easier.

I'm so glad to have found such treasure. Makes shaving for me even more enjoyable. Now i would like to know the difference between my now used GEM Stainless blades and for example the GEM Blue Star blades or other blades. But i think there is not such a wide range of blades like DE Blades...

    Greetings
    Thorsten
