I've been missing having a great shave with my PAL Injecto Matic. I'd experimented with multiple blades in it the last several uses and ended up with disappointing shaves - or at least shaves not quite as good as with a plain old Schick. So, despite only one shave on the Schick NOS Super Chromium I replaced it with a Schick and had that wonderful shave I've been missing. :happy088:

Super reduction after only two passes and a fabulous, super close shave after three. I paid extra attention to keeping an extremely light touch, just enough to hold it with. Basically I just let the razor glide across my face. Nothing else needs to be said. :happy036:

Alright, gents. I think I’ve stumbled into a new adventure in my wet shaving journey and this seemed like the appropriate group to seek some wisdom from. On a whim, I picked up a pack of SE GEM blades from the grocery store yesterday and tried out an old 1912-style GEM Junior I acquired by chance in a lot purchase. This was my first SE shave and--even without my usually-compulsive level of prep research--it gave me a whole new frame of reference for the term BBS.

Given this initial success, I was wondering if you have any general tips or suggestions for an SE noob that’s used to wielding a DE blade. Any habits I should adjust or special characteristics of an SE that I should be aware of? There’s plenty of experimentation in my future, but I always appreciate hearing about the experiences of others.

    Toms V 2 Adjustable Injector
NOS Personna Twin Injector Blade New
    Hans Baier Silver Tip Badger
    Haslinger Tallow Soap
    Thayers Original Witch Hazel

I had the Most Wonderful Dolphin Smooth all Over BBS Result today with Toms V 2 Injector & a Personna Twin Blade on the MILD Comb Setting..Some folks get confused with this One..The Twin Injector Blade is nothing like a cartridge system..The Injector Twin is a Single Double Edge Blade as the Pic shows above..Its a Double Barrel Shot Gun Design..The whiskers get Hit with Both Blades at a Time just a Hair Trigger before the other..Double Whammy Sort Awe Speakin.. :D

I have been testing Toms Injector with Various Blades & Pushing the Limits..I had my first shave with it today just for Me..These Personna Twin Blades are the Best of the Best..I would suggest that these are the Personna 74s of Twin Blades..I am on my 9th Shave with one of these blades in another Injector & I reckon that they put the Notorious Personna 74 to Shame & then Some..These are Rarer than the 74s by a Long Shot..:p

After my second ATG Pass on the MILD Setting I could have walked away but I went for the Money Button BBS Pass without a Hint of any Irritation .If Toms V 2 Injector came supplied on the Fixed MILD Setting with these Personna Twin Blades I would be Delighted All the Way to Hell & Back..:angelic007:

That is awesome that you had such a great first SE shave. Congratulations! :happy088:

Having never used a DE (at least not in the last 40 years) I am not sure I have much to offer about differences. However, here are some ideas:
    • Try putting a shim in that GEM Junior. That will allow the blade to have an angle like the blades from that era would have had (they had thicker spines back then.) Look up Billyfergie shim on Google for more info.
    • Try out an injector - you might find an unexpected treat. :happy036: (You might even find yourself selling your DEs. :happy102:)
    • After you get used to the GEM Junior, try out a more aggressive SE such as the Ever Ready 1914 or Ever Ready 1924 (also known as a Shovel head.) Your Junior might get lonely after that.
Welcome to SEs - enjoy those shaves. :git:

I think the most common mistake DE users make when switching to SE is using a shaving angle that is too steep - forget that 30 degree stuff. While it varies among the different models, the general guide is to start with the cap against your face and raise it just enough until you hear it cutting whiskers. SE's provide great audible feedback. Some razors, the Micromatics in particular, are designed to be used with the cap flat against the face.

However, it sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it! :happy088:

Another nice thing about SE's is that generally they are reasonably priced. You can try several without breaking the bank.

As good a shave as it gets. @Billyfergie has given me an additional definition for exceptional shaves. There is BBS, AGAIG, and now Dolphin Smooth. This shave is all of that. I am getting these shaves on a regular basis with whatever equipment I am using, but Injectors make it so easy, and paired with the Dutch blade=PERFECTION! Have great day Gentlemen.

Well put. I always think less than 30, but that's a good way to explain it. Cap to the face. Then raise it. :)

Ordered a Schick injector today and some Schick injector blades. Any other blades you injector experts recommend?

    Razor: Bunny V-3 NOTSO Comb
    Blade: Chick (4)
    Soap: MWF
    AS Brut Classic

I had 3 full days to mow down. Loaded my brush up and face lathered. Got a really nice slick lather. I proceeded with my first pass WTG.
The reduction was outstanding. The razor just glides over my face. Using the light touch you have a hard time hearing it cut.

Lathered upper the second pass ATG. Again smooth as silk across my face. I could have stopped her with a Very nice CCS no problems. but I had to take a third pass.

The third pass was just as good as the first 2. Finished with a DFS and feeling great.

MMMmm...Sounds likes its a Schick Type E or a Type G..Eversharp never started to make them until 1946..It could be an Eversharp Canadian Type E tho.More often than not the sellers just talk a load of Guff..E or a G Type I reckon.. :)
