Comments on the E2s and other E and G types opening. I do have a couple of the E2s, which for some reason I've been thinking of as E1s. While I don't open them frequently, I will do so occasionally. Once you see the gunk that can accumulate in there, you'll want to take advantage of this feature. The springs still seem tight, and these razors are closing in on 70 years old.

About the G types. No, apparently they were not meant to be opened, despite a design which practically begs you to try. You can wreck them by doing this, so I don't advise it, but to be fair, I have done this once with each G type that I have, and gotten away with it. Maybe just fools luck, and in some cases the springs are visibly distorted, but the blades sit tightly and evenly. Having gotten rid of accumulated gunk of previous owners, I'm content never to open mine again. I'll just clean them as best I can closed from now on.

I still prefer the E2s. Not only can you open them to clean them but the shave is excellent.

I also have a couple of type Ds, where the entire handle scissors open, which in turn lets you open the head. The shave on these is a bit rougher, though, and I don't use them as often.

There You Go...That's a Schick for ya !! Why they didn't win the Razor Wars is proof of the power of Marketing....It certainly wasn't about shave quality....

I just shaved with a Personna 74 blade in my little G1 and it was an amazingly smooth shave in that it shaved close and without pain or nicks.

No pain, no gain. :) Just kidding. That is what my doctor use to tell me just before he gave me a shot when I was a kid. Hated that doctor.

Now lets see how many great shaves you can get on that blade...I've heard Guinness Book type of amazing boosts about the 74's...
When I shaved with them back in the 70's...I didn't push it...But I still think I got 1 or 2 weeks without trying....Seems like one time I did a month but wasn't keeping track, or shaving every day...At the time we didn't realize the historical importance the 74's would command...lol

You won't be disappointed, Lloyd - like you, I'm very fond of the Schick I2 Hydro-magic, But the E2 seems to be my go-to razor most days. :)

Another cool thing about the E types are that they were the razor the Navy cats were issued in WWII...
My Dad told me one time that during that time, two reasons why chicks dug the Navy guys more than the other Service cats was #1 the Navy uniforms were sharper and everyone got them tailored because they were cool looking...And #2 they were all issued really nice Schick Injectors and the girls liked how close and smooth shaven the Sailors were compared to the Solders...Then he laughed....Probably completely pulling my leg...But he did think the world of those Schick Injectors....And so do I...

Can someone enlighten me about Schick Adjustables. I just received one in the mail from an eBay seller that said it was in perfect working condition. The underside of the razor shows a separation from the black plastic and the metal, right where the dial screw is. You turn the screw and it doesn't appear to connect to anything. So I googled and got this theshaveden thread.

    http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/schick-injector-mega-sale-type-i-j-l-and-ms-atra-handle.13481/

My adjustor underside looks like the Protector. The dial will turn around and around. You would think you hit 8 and have to go back the other way. I'm cleaning and will put in a blade and see what happens.

How does the dial screw change blade exposure? Also, do I have an unuseable adjustable?

    Johnny,

How did you like the Feather inj. blades?

Is there a concensus here (besides the Personna 74) on good sharp inj. blades. I like the Schicks. Just curious.

    Thanks.

Okay, two hours later, after cleaning the Schick Adjustable Injector Razor M10. (Still don't know if this is a Protector or where the bar slider would be.) I attempt to load a Schick blade and can't get it into the razor head at all. I finally twist the injector box and lift and twist the razor head the other way and finally get a blade to squeeze in halfway. It took a lot of effort. I twisted some more and got the blade in all the way.

Right at the end of the process, the side of the razor head(lips) connected to the injector opens too wide maybe and the blade looks crooked, until the lips close back down and it looks normal. If this is a Protector, am I to move it before inserting the injector and blade, or is there some other reason for the difficulty and razor head momentary warp?

I did stare at the bar as I dialed and saw the bar move up and down to adjust. Learning by doing.

The Feather blades were okay, about like the current issue rebranded Personna's. I prefer the Schick branded blades though.

Can you attach a picture to what you have and how you are trying to load it?

To whom it may concern: I have really liked all the injector blades that I have tried lately....So I will list them with comments...
    The Personna 74's numero uno
Schick Platinum Plus....damn near as good...excellent
    Schick current...great
all re-branded Personnas:EMS, Ted Pellas, CVS, Long's Drugs....A little inconsistant but at least as good as my favorite DE blades...Sometimes I get a re-branded Personna that feels like a Platinum-Plus and I'm in heaven....
Feather-Pros, cut to fit Schick...Why? just asking for trouble....too many better options.
Thats my take on the current blades I've tried....hope this helps someone....:)

Here's my M3 with the Protetcor. It's the black raised tab at the top pf the handle where it meets the head in ths second picture. It sildes up to lock the razor so the blade can't cut, and if it is locked loading a blade would be very difficult.
