    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Semogue 1520 boar
    Lather: VDH Luxury scented
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Day 3 with this combination and another good shave. The VDH soap works pretty well. It's not the best soap out there but for it's quite good for the price. The G1 glided right through the lather with no problems. This is shave 9 with the Chick blade. I noticed maybe a tiny difference today, but it is still sharp and comfortable. No nicks, weepers, or irritation. Pretty smooth shave for one pass with touch-up.

    Have a great day everyone!

I must be fickle, I keep switching razors. I went back to the K1 long handle Lady Eversharp after a multi-weeper mess of a shave yesterday with the E3. BUT I switched out the Ted Pella blade for a Chick. What a difference! The Chick is smoother and cuts better without the carnage. Only one small weeper, otherwise OK. CCS/DFS category. Not super close, but passable. I'm learning...

Agreed, for me this month, the K seems to be a tad milder than the J3, but I do like the I2. Maybe it's the shorter handle, but I had thought that all the Hydro-Magic shaving heads are the same. :signs002:

I do really like the cleaning lever though. :happy088:

Getting in the groove Herm! :git:

I dare you to go the whole month with that combo! (ok, at least the rest of the week!)
Now that you got a good razor / blade combo - technique, technique, technique!

    It’s Hydro-Magic May!
I’ll spend the month with my three Schick Eversharp razors that sport the Hydro-Magic shaving/cleansing head - Types I2, J3, K1

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program….

Leaving on a two-week business / pleasure trip on Saturday night. I plan to take two razors that I consider candidates to become my travel razor - the Schicks C1 and H2!

But I wanted to try my H2 with a Personna blade before I leave so here goes.

    Hot Shower
    Razor: 1947-1953 (Schick) Eversharp H2
    Blade: Personna (1)
Soap: Route 66 - Sweeney Todd
    Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic
    TSD Witch Hazel
    AS: Myrsol Limon

    05-12-16.JPG

    Two-pass shave (XTG, ATG)

Wow, the C1 Repeater will face a strong challenge from the H2. An excellent shave!

You’d have to ask the experts about what makes this razor so good, but from my perspective - handling - along the same lines of the difference between a standard injector handle (E, G types) vs the long handles (J, K types).

Going even shorter than the E/Gs with the H, your hands are just about at razor head distance from your face and finger tips almost at the cutting surface. Not only does the handling become superior but your sense of touch through your hand, becomes an equal shave component with sight and sound.

Actually the sound was much louder than I remember from my first H2 shave, but this was my first time with a Personna blade. I may try a Plus Platinum tomorrow in search of a smoother feel and sound. But I'll put up with it for a shave like this!

    Cheers!

Tonights shave made possible with the help of my dad who gave me his Rolls Razor and his brush. And @spidey9 who gave me a Rolls Razor handle to make the razor usable again. A big thank you to both men. I really didn't need to shave tonight as I had a very good shave last night with the Schick Injector Adjustable but the postman brought the package containing the Rolls handle so I had no choice but to hone up the blade and give it a try. I've never honed a blade myself before so I used the Rolls hone and stropping machine to hone up the blade. It wasn't a terrible shave but the blade needs some more honing. I think I will hone it up on my Franz Swaty barber hone I purchased a couple weeks ago for a measly $8. Tonights equipment.
Razor- Dads Rolls Razor. @spidey9 handle.
    Brush- Dads vintage Every ready
    Lather- TOBS Grapefruit shave cream.

    Razor: ESF Rapide
Blade: Rapide (3) sharpened by @spidey9
    Soap:Tabac
    Brush: WD 24mm synthetic
    AS: Old Spice

Had a ROCKIN' 4 pass shave tonight no touch ups. BBS

I am thinking that I prefer a 4 pass shave. The standard WTG,XTG and ATG the forth pass I use a very light buffing stroke over my entire face ATG. This leaves me very smooth and no irritation. I had this Rapide set to the line so the shave was almost indistinguishable from the Henckels Rapide. These razors are oh so smooth. It also adds a very nice ritual to my shave routine. The stropping of the blades.

    Thats it for this shave.

Get that blade sharp and you are in for one heck of a shave. Wedges are fantastic, as all SE shaves.

    Today's Shave: Thursday May 12, 2016

    Cobra Classic
    Feather AC Professional blade (1)
    The Grooming Co. synthetic brush
LA Shaving Soap Co. Blackfern soap
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal aftershave

My reaction the first time I saw a picture of a Cobra Classic: "I want one." What followed was a couple of years of frustration as I was unable to connect with Classic Razors (the sole distributor) during the brief periods (usually measured in nanoseconds) when the razor was actually in stock. Recently I worked out a deal with a member of another shaving forum and finally I have one.

I tried it yesterday with a Kai Titan Mild and found that its reputation as a hyper-aggressive face eater is way overblown. Today I loaded a Feather Artist Club Professional and enjoyed one of the best shaves of my wet shaving life - very close to perfectly BBS, and not a single weeper or even a hint of irritation.

Stainless steel razors are all the rage these days, but the Snake is pure old school: Solid brass with a beautiful heavy nickel plating. It weighs in at 3.3 oz and in my hand feels as perfectly balanced as any razor I own. The handle has always been controversial but it feels great to me.

It's one of the coolest looking razors I own - not surprising, since its styling was obviously influenced by one of the other coolest looking razors I own:

(For anyone not familiar with injectors, that's a PAL Adjustable, circa 1962)

I'm looking forward to spending some time with this one - at least until the Rocnel, ATT SE and Single Edge injector arrive.

Last night I was awakened by a horrible noise coming from my medicine cabinet. Note to self: Do not store the Cobra next to the Mongoose.

That is a real beauty. After a few shaves with it give a cut down Feather AC a go. It is an awesome shave that way.

I just started shaving a few weeks ago with the Rapides. Before that I was using my Rolls and loved how it shaved. A sharp blade is imperative. You might also want to find some Stropping SE blades when you get a few more old SE's 1912,1914 and 1924's. Those are some fantastic shaves too. Oh yah also injectors, they rock too.

Maybe you should just them all.:D That is my plan. I no longer use my DE's. I have no desire to use them much any more. For me SE shaving is the way to go.
