But you know....I've got a '65 Slim Adj., a '52 Super Speed, a '38 Senator TTO O-C, and a Ming Shi TTO...and the only one I heaven't drawn any blood with ; not one weeper; is the O-C Senator. So I'm still not too sure about the inherant safer qualities of the Solid Guard Bar design. Now I've also never shed a drop with my '55 Schick Hydo-magic....But the one I had in the '60's and '70's....well sometimes it was a veritable blood-bath.....due to user error I'm sure but just sayin'...LOL

Maybe we should start a thread about...."Tell me your most embarassing shave cuts stories":happy102:

Looks like you made a good purchase, and you will be busy during the next few weeks doing testing and experimentation. I love the Schick G and the Schick I. My #1 favorite is the G.

As to shaving with old injector blades, try it if you like, but I predict it will be very unsatisfactory. Those blades could be 20 or 30 years old and you have no idea of the storage circumstances regarding moisture and whatnot.

The Enders blades must be really ancient! Again try if you will, but I believe messing around with WD40 and steel wool will be an unmitigated disaster.

Good luck, though, and let us know how it plays out.

I just pulled out my injector for my evening shave and having been away from it for a little while I was surprised to find that the blades are a lot sharper than I remember. I guess the blades I have been loading into my DE are a touch milder. Great shave tonight though.

To all you veterans - a question? I'm sure this is answered somewhere, but I am a little daunted by 42 pages to search thru...

I see frequent references to the Chinese Schick blades. My first injector shave tonight, and it was a little rougher than I've been used to with my Gems. The blade I used said it came from Germany. Where do I get these Chinese blades? Thanks in advance! Oh, I was using a Hydro-magic...

Randy's link is one good option. There's also here, which is where I got mine.

Also even though the Hydro-magic seems weightless, still don't use pressure...The blade should be sharp enough to do the deed...If not change blades....But if you do use pressure to make up for the lack of weight they will get pretty aggressive...

Thanks all! Both these links look good - but how can you tell they are chinese? I can't find that identified in the text. Is there some clue so I will be able to tell? And yes, I think I did get some pressure involved because of the weight -did that with the first Gem Featherweight I used, too... Once I got that down it gives a fantastic shave. I will work on that.

In the case of the link that I gave you, you really have to just read the comments to know that they're the Chinese Schicks. Messages in various shaving forums confirmed it for me.

I don't know where you live, but if you have any independently owned drug or grocery stores nearby you might find the Chinese Schicks there. I have at least three stores within 20 miles of where I live that carry them and a couple that are a bit further away. If you have a Family Drug they stock them.

So my first injector arrived in the mail today. Cleaned and sterilized the sexy beast and it's good to go. I may be adventurous and try the vintage blades it came with (Which are in better condition than the razor I might add), however can anyone recommend some good blades to grab from somewhere not overseas? (I really wanna test this bad boy out!)

Tom basically nailed it earlier with recommending to go to a local drug store or chemist and see if they have the Chinese Schicks.

I've done some high and low searching in my local area, and unfortunately unless i head across the city on a long tour, there's nothing aside from cheap cartridge blades in drug stores. I said oh well and just decided to grab some Schick NOS blades I found on eBay for rather cheap. Still tempted to pull a vintage out and clean it up to use though. These razors look amazing, TBH.

If you use what is with the razor be sure to check to see if they have rust on them. You will be amazed at what an injector can do!

I did pull the top one out, and it was actually extremely clean on both sides, little bit of dust and whatnot that you'd expect from long term storage however well stored at least. There's 5 blades left in there, so I think I'll get adventurous on the weekend and see what this new baby can do....though as I said before it it shaves like my favourite DE's...I'M DOOMED! lol

In my opinion the Injectors shave better than DEs or SEs on the face. The only reason why I do not use them all the time is the supply of good blades and the fact that when I head shave there are some blade angle/exposure issues, so I will use a Trac II/Atra on the head and the Injector on the face.

You're right about old blades. Terrible. Even some Personna 74's I paid for felt sticky and were hard to inject and did not shave well. One set of Personna 74 injector blades worked great. Enders useless.

Now I have a Weck Hair Shaper with old unused blades by Weck and Personna. I'm not brave enough to go there yet. I see some Fromms and other brands new for cheap, I may try instead.

My face can't bear the E's by Schick. G's still the best for me.

I have Personna 74's NOS that work well and a few in another injector that don't. For me Schick and regular Personna injector blades work fine in my injector razors.
