The big boar brush helps. I soak it and bloom the soap while I shower and then load away. I load for a long time, adding water little by little. I wasn't thrilled with VDH a couple of weeks ago but now I've really come to enjoy it. And yes, it's cheap!

I have a OCMM on the way to me. I'm really interested to see how it shaves. Injectors and SEs are rising up the list for my preferred razors.

Yes, the VDH soaps take some practice to get the lather just right. Once you find the combination, it really is a great lather. It took me over a month before I got a consistently good lather. Some people find the OCMM to be very aggressive. When I bought mine, I was afraid to use it. I used it for a solid week and did not find it that aggressive at all. It sure is an efficient razor and can mow down whiskers in a hurry. The weight and balance are very nice and is a nice piece of machinery. In all the times I've used it, I never nicked or cut myself. It's a real nice razor and I'm sure you'll like it.

Good morning friends. Wonderful shave this morning with my new to me Palmolive shave stick that Martin aka Marverel kindly PIF'd to me. It's beautiful! Lovely slick, protective, cushiony lather. Three passes for a BBS finish easy as pie. Have a great day guys. [IMG]

I hope by, "...take the G1 apart for cleaning..." you don't mean, "Moved the spring to the side so the head could open." Certain death for Schicks other than the D, the E1 or early E2. The spring loses the correct tension after that's been done. :sick013:

Wow! Thanks for that. Knowing how I am, I probably would have moved it once mine arrives.

    Today's Shave: Sunday May 22, 2016

    Wilkinson Empire
Wilkinson Sword Hollow Ground wedge blade (4)
    Stirling 22mm synthetic brush
    LA Shaving Soap Co. Blackfern
    Pinaud Clubman original

Continuing my wedge blade weekend with another fine shave. This set is unusual in that the blade arrived still sealed in the little wooden box, so I'm shaving with the factory edge (stropped, of course) which actually has only 4 shaves on it.

    Razor: Schick G1
    Blade: Schick (1)
Brush: WDC-4 Silvertip Butterscotch Handle (VIG)
Soap: TSD 2x Iced Yin Yang
A/S: TSD 2x Iced Yin Yang

One of my favorite TSD soaps. Excellent cooling effect from both the soap and A/S. The Schick performed as expected providing a near BBS.

Well I did, and installed a new blade and got an also BBS today. Shouldn't do it again I would imagine. Thanks for the heads up. :happy088:

I hope that no one bought this, the main spring is tweaked and won't hold a blade! image.jpeg

Funny you should say that. It was maybe 4 dollars shipped and it surprised me with its looks and performance.

    Cream: AOS Lavender
    Brush: WD Pure Black Badger.

Tonights shave was to put it simply. FANTASTIC.

These old SE blades are incredibly smooth. This is the third shave with this blade and it was as smooth as butter. The noise this thing makes is awesome. It just sings to you. Long story short. I finished with a BBS allover 3 pass shave no touchups.

I am a bit curious as to how long this blade will go before I need to strop it. I hope I can get many, many shaves from these blades by stropping and a little balsa work.

I hope you all have a great week.
