    thevez2 uses Gillette's new Tarantula Razor - 8 blades!!

That reminds me, I need to post about my Weck SE razor. It is a Weck Hospital Prep razor from the 30s. Made by the same company that makes the Weck Sextoblade shavette or Weck hair shaper, and it takes the same Personna or Fromm blades. These blades are like GEM SE blades, but they a wider (see below) so that makes this a really wide razor. It's a beast to look at.

The shave from this razor is spectacular. The Personna hair shaper blades are great, so getting a BBS is failry easy. It's size makes it qa bit cumbersome around the neck, chin, and especially the upper lip area, but the XTG pass clears that up easily.

The blade is loaded in a similar fashion to an injector, but you just push it in manually.

Here is is with a Gillette NEW for size comparison.

It is even wider than the Cobra Classic razor that takes Feather or Kai SE blades!

Hi All.... I don't SE shave often, but I do enjoy a GEM 1912 from time-to-time (with really good prep) and an injector "L1" is indispensible to my travel kit.

Teeth : when shaving with an OC razor if you see 'teeth tracks' on your face left by the OC you may be just using it at the wrong angle. Try decreasing(increase) the angle and it may give you a smoother shave.

When you have the right angle, teeth tracks either don't exist or are not very visible.

    Neolithium I am Canadian, eh

I'm still working on the OC angle, they seem much more finicky than any bar type. Also discovered that while the blades that came with my E2 were rust free, they weren't sharp at all. Tugged like I was using tweezers on my face. Patience is a virtue, I have injector blades en route!

I just purchased my first injector today from auction. From all the talk about them I wanted to try one. I have always been a DE and a straight shaver. So I am excited to get mine in and try it out. Besides my collection would not be complete without one in it. It should be here Saturday. Counting the days. Can't wait to try a shave with it. Any recommendations on blades?

You really don't have a lot of choice with injectors. The Schick injector blades work fine for me. The ones in the drugstores may be made by Personna, but I'm not sure. I bought some Personna 74, made with titanium, and they are supposed to last longer and be sharper. You have to buy them as NOS now. I can't tell much difference in sharpness. There are the Ted Pellas and some barber brand that's supposed to be like the Personna 74's. I just mainly stick with the Schick.

What injector razor did you get?

    Lindy,

The Personna 74s both DE and Injector were made of Tungsten Steel then coated with Titanium. Tungsten is #74 on the periodic table hence the name.
A NOS 74 will outlast any standard stainless steel blade even coated with Titanium because the base blade was so much stronger.
Titanium is used to make blade edges smoother with an added cost of course.

74s now fetch a premium and we may never see the likes of them in production again.

They were definitely at a premium. I have 2 injectors with 7 blades each. One came in an unopened injector box, NOS. Another came with a Personna Razor, that in the day, was thrown in as free razor with blades for $1.95, NOS. I paid $30. For the injector by itself, $15. One box was black and the other silver. (I even have some PAL Premium injector blades that were thrown in with a razor. I don't know if I dare try them.)

Just got my Schick Eversharp G6 today. Soaked it in barbicide today and tried my first shave with a Schick Injector ever. I was amazingly pleased with the shave I received!!! I performed a 3 pass shave with BBS results on Menthol Monday!! I used Schick blades that I picked up at my local Ma & Pa drug store. I am a believer. I love this razor and will be putting it in my rotation for sure!! This is why I love TSD forums. Without reading about these razors I would have never tried one! Just as good as some of my DE's and better than many of most. Tomorrow I'm trying my 1912 GEM I just purchased. Wish me a good shave!!!!

I have that same model 1912 and a Junior 1912. You'll like it. And it is really loud as you trim those whiskers.

I am now also officially entering the realm of the Injector shavers; have received in the mail my recently ordered Schick M1 Adjustable Injector as well as the 28 NOS Personna Super Stainless electro-coated Injector blades. Can't wait until taking this razor for a spin tomorrow morning...
