After second pass, C3 side was BBS, except needing touch up below jaw line...H side needed another pass....

This day, the C3 was a clear winner, but either one was fantastic!

Hey, wait a minute... was this fight scheduled as a two-rounder? Was the decision called early before the full 3 passes? Whaaaat? :shocked003:

Hmmm, I'd say a cloud of suspicion hangs over that title. :signs002:

Better schedule a rematch - and keep the final pass touch ups divided. The shave isn't over until the stubble starts to come back and I'm going to Vegas to put my money on the H for the closer shave. :)

All the talk about PAL Adjustables lately has had me thinking of breaking out mine. And then I saw @Robyflexx 's shave today and I knew today was the day. :happy036:

A lovely shave all around. Super smooth and fantastic results. As is true of so many razors, light to zero pressure brings the best results. But it's so deceptive as there is not as much audible feedback and it just feels like you are wiping the lather off. Carry on anyhow and resist that urge to give it a little help. The PAL Adjustable is a pleasure machine that feels great in the hand and leaves that face rubbing goodness behind. :happy093:

    Brush: WDC-7 Olivewood Handle, Silvertip

Hard not to pull out the AlumiGoose when you open Doug's Den door. If you also happen to notice a nice handle the deal s done. :)
Very fine shave today with these utensils. The RazoRock XXX formula is more natural, it is tallow based, the jar is much better and the scent is still as unbelievable as ever. The scent is fresh and clean; a cross between a classic Italian colonial and an old-school barbershop.
I really enjoy using this brush, and I have to admit neglecting it to much, sorry brush. A near BBS shave this afternoon.

ahhh.......ahhhhhh.....yeah, I'm afraid it was called before the 3rd round.......Guess there will have to be a rematch.....You're right....There is such a cloud of suspicion that it's gonna rain.....

But....but.....Today, the C3 delieved such a polished BBS dolphin's finest finish.....that the rest of my razors even started applauding....in fact, I believe I heard.....Her Majesty the Hussy invite my C3 to stay with her in her case.....but you know how she is......:happy102:

Over the past several weeks I have been using my SE's with a Stropping blade and also a new Carbon blade. These are the razors I have been using.
    Starting from left to right.
    1. 1912 Gem Travel with the shorter head configuration and curved top.
    2.1912 ER USA
3.1914 ER early model (small blade stops)
4.1924 ER early model (pat applied for)
    5. ER Streamline (early model with large openings)
    6.1912 ER British Made
    7. Gem Damaskeene

    ER Sun Ray Automatic Stropper
Blade ER Corrux US made (Stropping Blade)
Gem Carbon blade (New non stropping)

Anyhow, I decided to do a little test to see how well the old Stropping blades stack up to the new blades. I chose to use the new style carbon Gem blades as opposed to the Stainless. As I already know I get 5 good 3 pass shaves from the stainless blades. On the 6th pass it go down hill fast. So I used this as my baseline.

I started with the razors as listed above. The first shave with the Stropper(I gave it 10 good laps on it before shaving.) went great very smooth and very good feedback. I moved on to the next 2 razors with the stropped, without stropping in-between shaves. Billy informed me I needed to do it after each shave. Thanks Billy. Anyhow after my third shave I loaded the New Gem in the razor. I found that the first shave is extremely smooth. For me better than both the stainless and stropping blades.

As the week went by I moved thru the razors with my stropping blade and throwing in my Carbon blade in between. The shaves with the stropped seemed to be on a very consistent quality. It is not the sharpest blade, but it is smooth. As for the carbon blade it was a winner for 2 full shaves. The third and fourth were good on par with the stropped. Unfortunately on Thursday using it in my Damaskeene it gave up the ghost in the middle of the 2nd pass. I finished with the blade but it was not a smooth one.

So tonight I loaded the Stropper into the Damaskeene for its 8th shave. ( I did 2 shaves with the Streamline. Fantastic shaves with that)
Tonight I could tell the blade was starting to loose its edge. Nothing like the Gem blade. I will try stropping with some Red paste and see if I can get more shaves out of it. I am sure I took some life out of it when I failed to strop it in between those first few shaves.

My conclusions are as follows. The old blades are superior in holding an edge longer than the new styles. However the new styles are sharper out of the box. I will continue to use the old style blades that is for sure. I am confident with time, my stropping will improve. This I hope will help me keep a keener edge longer. I will also try different blades of the stropping variety. The Corrux I am using are much newer than than most stropping blades. I find I have fun stropping the blades. The added involvement with my shave is very rewarding.

Just thought I would share my findings so far.

Aye..I Reckon that's Spot on Tom..The Factory Gem Blades are Sharper from the Box..I Do Find, however, that they are Not as Smooth as a Stropping Blade. For me the Stropping Blades Win Hands Down for Comfort & Smoothness from the Onset..They are also More Rigid & as You say very Consistent..:)

Its an Interesting Experiment that One..You are Finding the Stropping Blade to be More Consistent it would appear without Stropping them for a Few Shaves...When they are Stropped between Shaves we have a Blade that should be Shaving without a Drop off for a Fairly Long Time..Factory Multi Facet Blades are Dropping off from the 1st Shave albeit Very Slowly..;)

Some Folks see Stropping Blades as a Step Backwards in the Name of Convenience..The Paradox is of Course is that Step Backwards towards Stropping a Blade is Taking it Back to Holding a Consistent Sharp & Smooth Edge..:D

Most of the SRs I have will Shave Closer with the Proper Technique than a Feather Artist with a Feather Pro Blade..My Wedge Blade Rolls Razor is the Same..The Feather Pro in a Feather Artist Club is Dropping off Pass by Pass..That is to Say..Very Noticeably..:shocked003:

    I wouldn't have believed that before..I Do Now..:angelic007:

I think I most likely looks one life out of the blade by not stropping it for 3 shaves. I gave it 10 laps on a pasted strop tonight then finished up with 20 on the regular strop. I will see if I helped it at all. If not I think I can get 1 more shave from it. I will try a Star blade next. This time taking proper care of it.

Good morning guys. Fantastic shave this morning with the Pal Adj. First two passes I shaved with the H setting and the amount of reduction was so great that for the third and final pass I turned the knob back down to the middle setting. Had I not done this I would have been raw, this is a very aggressive razor. My end result is a wonderfully dolphin smooth face with no irritation whatsoever. Awesome! :love055: This soap although being a high quality soap falls short of delivering the type of lather a Haslinger, Tabac or La Toja can do. Have a great day friends.
