Have you used the carbon feathers before? I couldn't stand them

I have not. These are the only ones I was able to find to order. I have a new vintage blade(in the last razor on the right) and it was rough! Or the Autostrop is very aggressive. We'll see tomorrow.

Easy, from mildest to more aggressive, so from newest to oldest :)
That's what I do. Have fun.

Lol. They all look the same to me though. Except for one bar, one is a larger head(far left), and slight variations in the blade holder part.

Blue handle G didn't make the pic? Even with a space in the rack? Perhaps you just couldn't intimidate the rest of the line up? If for some reason you've decided the perfection that is the blue handle G is too much for right now, I hereby offer my services as a foster home....

    Nice line up!

I had to make a decision. The Blue handle G just had its day not long ago. I chose my Dad's E instead. I almost could have used a different SE each day of the month (I have 24), but that would be too much to keep track of.

Just in case any of you fine fellows wondered "Whatever happened to ol' whatshisname?" I hate to disappoint, but....... I'm baaaack! :scared011:

Unfortunately most of this month was spent offline as I had a busier than usual travel schedule for work and pleasure. Hope to be around more in September.

Though I wasn't online much, I still shaved!

    Adjustable August- RECAP
DEs - Gillette Fatboy and Slim
Injectors - PAL and Schick M1

I spent the month comparing 4 adjustable razors, giving me about 5-6 shaves with each. In one sentence - a month of great shaves, where I discovered preferences, but no clear favorite.

    IMG_4566.JPG IMG_4565.JPG

The first two weeks were spent with my two DEs, using my best "ride the cap" focus - with pleasant amazement about how close the shaves were and how many resulted in next-day shaves needing just one pass. (I generally need two passes.)

I had only ever shaved with the two DEs during month of August last year - so just about a dozen shaves with each. I had not had any shaves this good back then.

I then switched to about two weeks with the injectors. I had previously used the Pal for 5-6 shaves and the Schick was new to me.

Most of the injector shaves were experimenting with angles and blades. The blade angle did not come immediately with either razor, but I was soon getting shaves that put the next days' shave into the 1-pass category as the DEs had.

The last four shaves of the month were "split-shaves" one side with a DE, the other with an injector.

Man, let me tell you these are all fine razors. After each shave I could not tell which side had been shaved best. Each side had BBS or minor stubble, yet in the same spots on both side and the result left me with a one-pass shave for the next day.

I enjoyed all razors for their ability to be dialed up or down and I experimented with using lower settings to do ATG on my chin, or dialed up to test buffing WTG on the chin.

All four have their design differences that may appeal one way or another to different shavers. I felt I could use more pressure with the Schick than the Pal. The taller head of the Fatboy seemed to make riding the cap smoother, the weight of the Slim seemingly more maneuverable.

In the end, all four will be kept for the uniqueness of their adjustability, experimented with more, and used on a regular basis in the future. All of them are keepers

A word about blades...YMMV of course.

All DE shaves were with NOS 7 o'clock Blues - my current favorite DE blade, which never disappoints me.

The Pal used both the Chinese and Japanese Schicks. Both are currently manufactured blades. The Chinese were fine as usual, but the shaves with a new Japanese were noticeably smoother and sharper, even though they dulled sooner than the Chinese.

My favorite with the Schick was a toss up between the Japanese Schick and a NOS Dutch Schick. Oddly, I had one shave with a NOS Schick Twin that was tuggy and rejected. I will have to revisit this in the future as most of you Injector-heads swear by the combo of the Schick Adjustable with a Twin blade.

    Next up - SE SEptember!

    Cheers!

Today I had an excellent shave with what is proving to be my favourite modern Schick [ of the ones that I Own ] using a single blade. I believe that the Schick heads are supposed to be similar, but I am finding the Schick J3 Golden 500 is in a league of its own , almost rivals the PAL Injecto Matic but not as aggressive.

I started off SEptember with my Gem OCMM, loaded with a Gem Personna blade. With a Semogue boar brush, Stirling glacial lemon chill and two passes, I had a close and smooth shave. No weepers and no nicks! I'm ready to face the day!

Awesome shave this morning with the Schick N1 fitted with a twin blade. The Arko shave stick produced bountiful, slick, face lathering goodness. Three easy passes and I am dolphin smooth and refreshed. Have a great day guys. :)

    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Razor: GEM Featherweight
    Brush: Artisan badger
    Lather: Stirling Barbershop
Post: Witch hazel splash, Mennen Skin Bracer, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Nice shave this morning with the Featherweight. I really enjoy this razor. It may be considered mild but it feels great when shaving and provides consistent results for me. This particular GEM blade felt terrific. Stirling Barbershop was a great lather for the shave and Skin Bracer goes well with that scent.

    Have a great day!

    Brush- AOS Fine Badger
    Razor- GEM MMOC/GEM 1912
    Blade- GEM
    Soap- Route 66 Barbershop Hop
    Post Care- Crystal Alum
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    Osage Rub
    Old Spice

First day of SEptember and already I'm surprised. First, the AOS lathered up a wonderful bowl of Route 66. The scent and performance of this soap is fantastic. I loaded up brand new blades and used the MMOC on my right side and the 1912 on the left. I have always gotten stellar shaves from the 1912 and I did again today however the MMOC won the showdown. The right side of my face it more difficult to shave smooth, the hair seems to grow thicker and at weird angles. The MMOC just slid right through my whiskers, the only time I even felt anything was on my chin which is the quickest growing spot. The 1912 just wasn't as comfortable. I did three passes and I'm dolphin smooth but the alum determined the winner. Slight feedback from the 1912, completely silent from the MMOC. Considering the MMOC had the more difficult side, it was more comfortable to use and it shaved just as close but with zero irritation it was the winner this morning. I'll switch sides tomorrow for another round. Have a great day folks!
