Fat Friday! Fitting way to end a great month of shaves in SEptember with Mitchell's Wool Fat. The Schick L1 injector is providing great shaves. I will be using it for most of the month of October. Fine American Blend is a great scent. This has become my staple setup on Fridays and I really enjoy it.

I thought the same thing, but as you can see it is the last day of SEptember, too. It just worked out that way. I have seven razors slated for OCtober and the MMOC is the seventh and only SE razor.

 

Nice transition choice to slide into OCtober.

King of the mountain shave! After putting all of my injectors and SE razors head to head my Ever-Ready 1914 came out on top. Today it took a victory lap. I grabbed the WSP Blackbeard; wonderful scent, great lather and protection. I love this soap. Three easy passes for a completely smooth shave. Zero feedback from the alum. I finished with a few sprays of Osage Rub followed by WSP Blackbeard with menthol. Glorious! Have a great day folks!

For the past couple of days I have been working on my Le Coq hollow ground wedge type blade. I spent a few hours sanding as many of the blemishes and rust out of the blade as I could. Then following the process outlined by Glen @gssixgun here I began sharpening the blade on a 400 diamond plate with the spine elevated to get rid of the frown. Once the frown was gone I put 3 layers of tape on the spine and set to work on creating the bevel. With the 3 layers of tape I started to work with the 400 diamond plate. Once I had that bevel cut in I removed one layer of tape and recut the bevel again on the 400. Remove that layer of tape and with the final layer of tape I cut the bevel again this time on a 600 diamond plate. With the bevel cut in with the 600 I removed that old piece of tape and retaped it with one layer of tape and went to work on it with the 1200 diamond plate. Using a little pressure at first I did a few passes of circles up and down the plate and then some light X strokes followed by some no pressure X strokes. Coming of the 1200 diamond plate this blade was already very sharp and I knew I had done something special, I had a properly set bevel (really it was much sharper then any of my previous attempts up to this point)! From there I retaped the blade again took it to the 15 micron film to remove the heavy diamond scratches ending again with no pressure X strokes. From there I worked up the progression of 9,5,3,1 micron lapping film continuing to use no pressure just polishing the blade verifying each step with my USB microscope. This was my final bevel after about 10 no pressure strokes on the 1 micron film:

This Morning I had my best shave yet using a hollow ground wedge type SE blade. I made a very nice slick Stirling Lather and put the blade to my face. On the first stroke I knew! I may have been taking shots in the dark but even sometimes a blind man can hit a target! The blade wasn't quite as sharp as a commercial SE or DE blade but it did cut the whiskers nicely. There was no tugging on my cheeks or neck and only slight tugging on my mustache and chin where before it felt as though the hairs were being pulled out instead of cut. The Pal wasn't needed today as I finished all 3 passes with the Rapide. I finished with a DFS of my face and a CCS on my neck. I still have a blade in the mail on its way to Glen to see how much sharper I get it but I am very happy with my progress on this blade! I have much more work and leaning to do in regards to honing but I fell like I have hit a milestone! Have a great day my friends!

 

Herm, twins do not work in all injectors. @Robyflexx and @Billyfergie know all the injectors that can and cannot take twin blades.

Schick type H and up provided there is no rinsing lever - e.g. the I2 Hydro-magic. They will also work in a Personna Floating Head but DO NOT put them in a PAL. Total no-no. I believe some people have experimented with putting them in a Schick repeater and in an F type but I have not done that.

I had no idea the Valet Autostrop could be this easy to use. A light touch is all it needs for a very efficient shave. Could have easily been good with one pass, but did two of course. Although it is an aggressive razor, with the Feather Stainless blades, I might not need to shave tomorrow...

 

Yeah..Great when that Happens..I Would Suggest Perhaps taking it Back Onto the 1 Micron Finisher for another Light 50/60 Sets or So with that Hard Blade..I Reckon You will Notice a Big Difference..Great Looking Bevel..
