    Hussy + my DIY oil combination makes for a better shave than photo op. Have three of these bad girls FS currently, highly recommended, especially for head shavers out there. [IMG]

    Both are great shavers but they are each unique imo;
    The Cobra is definately more agressive and can bite if not careful.
    The Cobra is a pleasure to hold onto and better balanced in hand.
    The Mongoose blade alignment posts are much better than the Cobra's.
    Being able to change handles on the Mongoose allows variety.

    If I could only keep one it would be the Cobra just because of the unique design. At the end of the day, they are both great shavers if a person likes the blades they require. My preferance is the Feather proguard in the Mongoose and yet to find a favorite in the Cobra Classic (haven't tried them all yet).

    When our good friend Roby said how much he didn't care for his Alumigoose, I offered to relieve him of his suffering. I figured that the alumigoose gets so many good comments, and I love my Mongoose, so this must be a YMMV thing and I would put it to good use. I was maybe hoping for a travel razor that would compete with my SS Goose.

    Boy was I wrong. I shaved for so long I had to stop for a breather and a glass of water halfway through, and I still didn't get a very good shave. It reminded me of The Hawk with the factory handle, but I had put the Bomber handle on it that Rob was kind enough to include, so it didn't have lightweight to use as an excuse.

    I have a Hawk, a General and an El Jefe, and all of them will run circles around this thing, not to mention its big brother the B3 Goose which is in a whole different universe.

    I will give it a couple more tries with maybe a longer heavy handle, and a Feather Super, but I see this one headed right back to the BST.

    **Edit: I should add that I am not upset at all about having bought it, just baffled by how mild it is. It just doesn't seem possible.

    Have a good Saturday night.

    This was my experience as well. The Alumigoose is the mildest AC type razor that I own, milder than the Hawk.

    The only way that the Alumigoose works for me at all is loaded with a Pro Super blade, which turns it into a smooth and efficient shaver, although still on the mild side.

    This is the only time I use a Pro Super - it's too aggressive for me in anything else.

    Thank you for the input. I will try a Super next time around. I will also try a longer handle. A longer handle made all the difference in the world on my Hawk.

    Wonderful shave with the PAL Injecto-Matic this morning. Excellent lather from the Palmolive shave cream. Three passes for a refreshing dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day friends. :)
