What a great story! How lucky for you that Papa Bird ran out of the Schicks & made the 7/11 run. Did you switch over to the 74s after that or did they continue to be the "back up"?

You know there must have been kids in 1972 playing injector derby w/ 74s. Even the reprobate rifleman in me cringes at that thought.

I'm sorry I missed you earlier comment-- my kind benefactor/guardian of 74's visits the forums. (If he doesn't delurk, I'm going to steal his I2 for glamour shots with my new Lady! :p)

Mr. Ever-Ready does have many Hef-like qualities, but any whisker would tell you he obliterates facial foliage like Chuck Norris on amphetamines....

The Mrs Razorx little pink car comparison is perfect ! She leaves that sleek sexy Lady Eversharp hanging in the shower,an intimidating presence for sure !

You know thats a great question....actually as great as we thought the 74's were....we both still pretty much stuck with the Schick Platinum Plus' as our go-to's and 74's a close 2nd....
The Plus Plats were the blade to judge all others by...

    Tricky that letter G...

Methinks that's one of those transition FrankenShicks with the old E type head and G type seamed plastic handle...

I wouldn't have had a clue but I believe Hoosier Trooper has similiar one he talked about recently....

Very cool! Do you get in trouble for stalking the postman in Turkey? :p Perfect timing too, the next Theme Week is SE week. Looking forward to your reviews.

Ha! Love the name "FrankenSchick" :p I'd been trying to date it based on the box & Appleby table, but should have focused on the heads. I will look at Tom's thread :) Also, does Mrs.Razorx just lets her Pink Lady air dry btwn uses, or do I need to take any anti-rusting precautions since we don't shave as often as men. (I handstrop/container my DE blades, but I understand they're much thinner). Thanks again!

Does the G have two patent numbers?

That looks similar to the one I have. Pretty sure it was made during the transition from the E to the G types when they still had some of the E frames left that they mated up with the new style handles.

That makes a lot of sense. We'll approach it with the care that a more aggressive head demands. Thanks!

Shaved with my new Feather Weight today. First ever SE shave and I have to say, it's really, really nice. The Feather Weight is surprisingly heavy for something with that name. #6 brush and face lathered Arko stick. Three passes W, X, A, and it's as close and comfortable as any DE shave I can recall. I had no trouble at all finding the right angle. The FW is about the easiest razor to shave with other than injectors. Where have you been all my life?

We're using the PTFE Coated Stainless Steel Personna Injector Blades -

Alas, despite being a member of shaving's aristocrasy, poor Lady Eversharp receives no greater place of honor than that once occupied by the tacky cheap pink plastic girly razors.:signs131:

When not in use, against my advice....Mrs Razox insists on hanging her Lady Eversharp inside the tub/shower where she may retrieve it effortlessely from a reclining position whilst bathing whenever the need arises.

Although her blade changes are infrequent, this has been a workable arrangement...I only notice some minute traces of rust off to the sides where the blade's edge contacts the blade stops.

The second shave was a bit rough. About four or so weepers. This shave made me wonder about the blade. The third shave was really very good. Excellent three pass shave. The fourth shave was every bit as good. I really like this razor (feather weight)

Cool to see it smoothed out for you,I've never shaved with a Featherweight and I'm not sure how much lighter they are,but I've learned that for me lighter razors offer the most pleasurable shaves:

Lighter weight: Enhanced touch, agility and feedback.

Erik Redd Lizabeth, baby, I'm comin' to join ya.

    Which blade are you using?

SE week is coming up :) What's everybody going to use for the special occasion? I'm thinking it'll be the Hydro-magic and maybe I'll work up the nerve to try my Gem Junior.

I see MrsRazorx as a test pilot, putting blade and Injector through the paces to prove the system works :D... And my how it does! My first dance with the K1 Lady Eversharp was enjoyable & smooth w/ a Chinese Schick blade. I found the agile razor to the perfect weight (midway btwn the "cheap pink girlies" & my robust Razorock TTO. She manuvered flawlessly across the major NickZones (ankles & behind knees). No day 2 irritation. Yay!

It's daunting to report back to a party of experts. I can offer no injector insights, but I'll share a wee revelation that came from using the K1. Its flared tip & ferrule made it natural to hold the razor by the tip & subsequently apply minimal pressure. (I can't manage the "tip grip" w/my DE & keep the right angles while standing.). I may not have revisited the technique had I started with the slimmer tipped K2 or J series instead in the curvy K1. She'll be my date for SE week :bounce017: ... We now have 3 modern & 2 older injectors to try & compare-- Eventually there will be an Injector Smackdown :kar: :kar: :p

I am using a Gem stainless blade that I got from Walgreens or CVS, don't remember which. It comes in a grey plastic box of ten.

I will be using the Feather Weight and G1 mostly. I am also trying to work up some nerve to try the Micromatic. I probably will, but aggressive razors don't always agree with my face.
