I actually tried the whole shimming thing with my old Gem Junior. It really changed the shave. I liked the razor before, now it's very nice indeed.

Nice shave with the new-to-me Schick adjustable injector. It was so smooth. I looked back to posts from when I used one on pass-around and saw that setting 5 was my preferred spot. So I went with that today with no problems. I'll experiment up to 6 one day.

I went with Alabama made software today in honor of today's game with Alabama versus Washington. Roll Tide!! Soap Commander is terrific stuff and County Club's aftershave smells great. Smooth and comfortable shave in the end.

Once adjusted to the narrow cutting angle I coasted to a pretty flawless shave with Mr B and C, the head shave with the C was particularly impressive. It just made a big jump in the pecking order. I think they're both armed with Plus Plats on second or third use.

 

The 1909 has a slightly different underside and handle with a strop attachment....

 

Best place to buy blades for a GEM 1912 Damaskeene? Seems I will be needing some and want to make sure I buy the correct thing.

I've got both....the rounded teeth shave different....I believe the flat tooth comb is a little more aggressive although both are GREAT!

 

Gorgeous.....that patent no. Is for the 1909 pat'd....but where the handle connects is the slightly more modern device...So my uneducated guess is that this 1909 is one of the ones from 1915...

How does it shave? I've been told that the 1915 1909'sshave very much like the 1924 in all the good ways but also smoother...Does that discribe yours?

My 1909 is my favorite SE hands down...although I adore the ER's 1924 and 1914s....just the 09 is currently at numero uno of my SE's....I would think yours would shave like mine....
