Bird, those razors run neck and neck. I think it would be tough to pick a clear winner. I think I get the closest shave out of the OCMM, but the 1914 is right up there and it just sings the whole shave. All around, I might go with the 1914. It's a fantastic razor!

    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Razor: GEM Featherweight
Brush: Two band badger with Surrey handle
    Lather: Route 66 Perfect Storm
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Iced Barber Shoppe
    WTG, touch-up

Nice shave with the GEM Featherweight. I neglect this razor but get great shaves each time I use it. It's quite comfortable. Terrific lather from Route 66 and a nice finish with TSD Iced Barber Shoppe. Enjoyable shave.

    Have a great day!

Seems like an MMOC day. Second use of (shimmed) GEM blade. Smoother than the 1914 but seemingly just as efficient. A bit of a hurry so a brushless shave with KMF but the stuff delivers. Great hump day shave.[IMG]

I had a pretty good one pass shave with the Gem OCMM this morning. I wasn't necessarely in a hurry, just thought I would see how efficient I could be :D
Although the Gems have proven to be decent razors, I still prefer the smaller head of the Schick Injector/repeater for the upper lip area.

    I LIVED I LIVED
    My under $2 razor.

    [IMG][IMG]

I got home and have to give the paperclip single a go. I did 3 full passes. I nicked myself 3 times on the first pass. I caught the edge of the blade.

For passes 2 and 3 I readjusted my grip. I really choked up on the razor. This fixed my problem. Passes 2 and 3 XTG ATG respectively.

I was expecting this to be a really noisy shave. Not to loud. Finding the angle was not to hard. The cap is so smooth that it was hard to feel it. So I depended on feeling the actual blade for the angle.

I finished with a good DFS. I had to rinse the razor every 2 strokes. It will be better if it has cutouts on the wood to let the lather pass thru.

All in all a great shave for a .55 razor. I am going to make some out of plastic at work. That way I can add the lather clearance slots.

I will also use a 2" carriage bolt instead of 4".

    Fun shave

    Tom

Thanks for the report, Tom. I actually did pray for your shave today. I can see how you could catch yourself with the corners. They are not protected like in a normal razor.

Yes that is easily fixed with another pop-cycle and crazy glue
