Your 1909 is the winner in that category. I love this razor. The more I use it the happier I am that I spent the ching to get it. I can not find a down side at all. It looks great and gives such an incredible easy fantastic shave.

Get ready to fall in love all over again.

They should be great, A lot of people like the GEM Medical blades from Ted Pella. These should be good too. As it was said above you have to try to know for sure but I would say they will be great!

Wonderful shave with the Damaskeene this morning. This was my first time using it with a shim as @Billyfergie recommends. What a smooth shave, I will be using this method with my older Gem style razors.

I'm inclined to agree. Any medical blades should probably be three-facet and, thus, suitable for shaving. My only caution on those particular blades would be they may be Carbon Steel rather than Stainless. If so, you'll want to dry the blade post-shave to avoid premature rusting.

Shake Sharp and Injecto-boy mano a mano. While the Shake Sharp felt smoother there was a hint of irritation (head shave two pass plus touch ups) not there on the PAL side. Maybe a slight edge to the Shake Sharp in terms of efficiency but I'll leave the final evaluation until this evening. Both simply the best of the best.[IMG]

I prefer the carbon steel. Smoother to me.

May 6, 2017- Mystery SE Blade

Razor: Gem 1912 (pass 1), Gillette Sterling Tech (pass 2)
Blade: Annie Beauty Supply #5107 SE (1), Dorco ST-301 (6)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

    Well, this was unexpected...

I didn't realize that today was Brian's disposable Kamisori day. So, inspired by several recent posts about Gem razors and in sympathy for Brian's team, I decided to pull out the 1912 and the mystery blade a couple of days early. The blade is a No-name, Chinese-made blade which is distributed by the Annie Beauty Supply Company as a hair shaper blade. This can not bode well for our hero.

This is not my first time with a dubious Chinese-made blade or with a non-Gem SE blade, so I was prepared for pretty much the worst. Needless to say, I was shocked to put razor to face and feel... nothing! Hmm.. smooth glide, loud feedback, only one problem... no reduction at all! When I put hand to face, it was as though the blade had done nothing but make the whiskers stand up straighter.

FWIW, I don't have a particularly heavy beard, especially if I shave every day, so this is pretty much an ineffective blade. I'm not sure how to class this on the "Bad/Chinese Bad/Tiger Bad" scale as those imply some attempt at reduction and the resulting pain/irritation.

To salvage the day, I pulled out the Sterling with the week-old ST-301 that I originally planned to use today. I ended up doing a quick ATG pass (my normal second pass) and ended up with a CCS and no blood or irritation. A good place to stop for the day.

It was a bit loose, but a little tweaking with some small needlenose pliers tightened it up just fine. Ran a new Chick through it just now, and it shaves just fine.

I'll throw in my $.02 on this one.

I rotate through a Clog Pruf, OCMM, Bullet Tip, Flat Top G-Bar, Push-Button and the occasional Contour. A Gem-heavy arsenal.

By far and away the Clog Pruf gives me the most consistent, pleasant shaves. The others all have their own personalities, but I know I can turn to the CP any day of the week and knock out a BBS with minimal effort.
