I've made no secret of my love for the Feather Weight...GEM slammed another one outta the park with this one....Not to mention, it was Mickey Mantle's favorite razor! :happy088::happy088: It got him "Cheek to Cheek" with his favorite chick...can't ask more than that from any razor....

My finding's would concur....I consistantly get great shaves with the FW....It always shaves better for me that the G-bar....And while I really like the PB...The FW is on my top-tier...It reminds me of my favorite injectors....

I always prefer aggressive razors...the ER 1924, 1914....GEM OCMM...etc.....But the Feather Weight is an exception to the rule...It's a different Bird....Shaves more like an Injector...super light, handles like a sports car...and with a good blade...it does just melt away the whiskers! Reminds me of my favorite Injectors because it kind of gives a new meaning to the mild shaver term...It's definitely low impact, but very efficient at the sametime...The Feather Weight is one of my favorites!

And I definitely think it's the best of the modern SE's...Head and shoulders above the various PB's Contours and even the HFT (g-bar). Just judging from the shave and results...I have to rate it up there in my top-tier, never let go razors...

I've always love that look with the gold tip...Never had one but love that look! Looks like the one Mickey Mantle always advertised...

I am glad it is in a happy home!! Better then any DE and top of the SE pile too.

I think you will find them about the same. I prefer PAL but there is really not much difference.

Very under rated GEM. The angle is stupid easy and the shave is close and comfortable!
BULLY!! They almost deserve their own forum or something!

That is a hero level razor. The lather catchers of the injector world maybe.

I agree with this. If I had a modern GEM favorite the FW would be it!
It's what we do! Gotta enable and spread da wuvvvv.

    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick E2 injector
    Brush: Surrey two-band badger
    Lather: Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Nice shave with the Schick E2 today. More aggressive than my other injectors but perfect for two days growth. Mowed it down with ease. Superb and enjoyable lather and experience from the Glacial Lemon Chill. Smooth and comfortable.

    Have a great day!

    wchnu Duck Season!

Broke out my 1910 Junior Bar today with a 2 day plus beard. Threw in a 3 or 4 day old PAL and just mowed the beard down. Did my normal 2 pass with Witch Hazel clean up. The JR 176 did an awesome job on the ToBS Rose SC.

    PAL Injecto-Matic & Schick NOS Super Chrome coated [ 1 ]
A really nice Shave, which leaves me a bit perplexed about NOS blades, as using the same type blade
in another Razor had a a rather unsatisfactory shave from a razor which normally delivers.
My purchase of NOS blades has been a bit hit and miss, some good & Some bad ?

    Jim99 Gold Water Shaver

I'm in Tom White's Ever Ready pass around and used the 1924 this morning. I'm very impressed with this razor!

I used the 1924 with the carbon steel blade. I shimmed it with an old injector blade and a layer of electrical tape holding it on the carbon steel blade. I whipped up some Stirling glacial lemon chill with my Semogue boar brush and lathered up.

Right away I could tell that this was nothing like the 1912 or the 1914. The razor was aggressive, but very smooth. The blade sliced through my whiskers with ease. No tugging and no pulling, just the lovely audible feedback of the razor doing its job! Two passes later and I was BBS without a nick! Wow!

Was it the carbon steel blade, the shim, or the 1924? I don't know yet, but this is a winning combination!

Here's a recommendation... do yourself a favor and sign up for the pass around.

Third shave with the Featherweight/Blue Star combo. I'm getting a much better shave than with the PAL. Also Razorock XXX seems to provide a really good shave. Gonna cue it up again tomorrow to check this out. I might've found my first razor/blade/soap combo. Most of the time soap/cream doesn't really factor in.
