Think maybe that snake will make an honest shaver out of you??
I've seen it happen...I've seen cats find true razor love and settle down...then the Soaps, brushes and Cologne AD sets in...Mu-ah-ha-ha-ha

I wish there was a bigger selection of SE's out there (new) I have been bitten by the se bug.
Wow, imagine a new production se made be EJ ! By the way, does the cobra use the old style single edge or some other type?

Phil of bullgooseshaving.net will be producing at least one new SE in the new year and there's always the expensive Cobra Classic from classic shaving.

The Cobra uses the same type blades used in the straight razors with disposeable blades, such as the Feather AC series and Kai. It's longer than the standard SE injector blade and lasts for a good many shaves.

You can get a CJG or Sam Seong handle that holds the blades and is shaped like a traditional Japanese straight razor (non-folding). They are much cheaper. CJB at $30 and Sam Seong at $45.

    Wow, good information.
So bullgoose is gonna put out a modern se huh? wonderful! I just hope it isnt priced out of range (cobra)
I have a few of the straights that use the snapped in half DE's but dont care much for them.
I am proficient with them and work them from time to time but I like my solid straights better.
I am very anxious to see bullgooses offering.
As long as its less than $100.00 I will definately order 1.
    Thanks again for the info.

I hope the bullgoose version has the "traditional" straight handle instead of a contoured or finger groove model, those remind me of the plastic disposable razors

On Phil's forum shavenook.com, he has a thread with a video showing the SE model. No funky Cobra handle. Straightforward lines. He actually mentions two designs, one undisclosed as yet. He and his partner want to launch the first SE and if that goes well then the second design. It will be stainless steel. It reminds me somewhat of the Personna injector razor in it's latest rendition...but it will use the longer Feather and Kai single edge blades. There is mention of one that will use both the regular injector blades and the longer ones, somehow.

Here's the new SE prototype from Bullgoose in Phil's video. This one will be called the Huntlee.

I like the design. Simple and elegant. I guess he might just have two different width heads for the different blades?

I re-read the thread and he plans on two razors, one that you saw in the video comes first and it takes the longer Feather, Kai and Dorco blades. The second razor will take the Schick injector type blades.

So Cool Breeze....How's that OCMM treating you?

Man....Right now in my shave-cave there's a "Clash of the Titans" going on...
The Gem Cutlery Co. Damaskeene, EverReady 1914 Little Lather Catcher, and the EverReady 1924 ( Aka 'Shovelhead')....
I love all of these, and would probably like for the Damaskeene to win because she's the oldest...:)
But right now it's looking like the Shovelhead by a whisker...lol....But in all fareness, I do need time to learn the Dammy and the ER'14...at this point it's a level battlefield...Which ones do you guys prefer?? Place your bets on who'll win with the bartender at the menthol bar in the corner....;)

When Tom's razor package first got here, the OCMM was so easy to excel on, it was the clear cut favorite but after I learned the subtleties of the ER 1912 it became the clear cut champ....
So I need to give them a little more time...but this ER'24 doesn't need any break-in or learning curve...she's giving me such great shaves and making it seem so easy....and showing me a good time while doing it...lol...Got to be the loudest razor ever...and that boxy head with the thin metal cover acts like a reverb chamber and gives her singing a touch of sustain...not unlike a full hollow ground Str8...;)

The ER'14 is a loud singer aswell and with the Dammy everything just seems so right...I found the most aggressive cutting angle for her, but I keepgetting razor burn. I'm thinking I need to drop the skin stretching, I'll try that tomorrow...So much to try and soo little time. Wish I could shave more than once a day...lol

These aren't mine but very similar...

ER 1924 actually mine's in much better condition than this one but you get the idea. il_340x270.328231409.jpg

Man I have used it every day since I found it. I absolutely love it and have learned I like the single edges much better than the double edges.
Cant wait to get the Huntlee !

Micromatics are such a classic!! Gem beat Gillette to the TTO punch by like 4 years and it's still the best engineered TTO ever, as far as I can see...(ymmv)

Yea, I'm with you. The ONLY drawback is the tiny little short handles. I have huge mitts.
The Gem is as close to BBS as I have ever had, don't get me wrong, I love my DE's but I do believe I greatly prefer SE
