I love this picture.....Whoa!! Sorry to hear about this.....I'd toss those directions if I were you...Whew! I hope you didn't use the original instructions that 'I' posted....
    :lam:
As you said...the YMMV factor is huge with things like this.....Everyones hairs grow out at different angles and how we tighten the skin or if we don't tighten...etc, etc....But I'm glad you do get great shaves laying her flat....Thats Great News!....I absolutely love this razor....and I never particularly wanted to...Mine was gifted to me along with a couple razors that I was really psyched about...but the 1924 ended up Knocking me out and stealing my heart and whiskers...:D

It was ok. I discovered that the blades weren't agreeing with my skin. Just got a shipment of Gem ptfe blades and have yet to try them in the Damaskeene. I'll let u know

hmmm....did the first shave bother you or was it the subsequent ?

The reason I ask is....carbon steel blades can be a polarizing topic....But alot of people love the Treets and PALs...and maybe these Rite-Aids are the same.....The difference between hating or loving these; very often seems to be the way the carbon steel blades need to be treated to avoid rusting....

I usually rinse...pat dry with a bath towel and put one drop of baby oil on each side of the edge...I then leave it in a dried razor til tommorow. Then I just shave and afterwards do the same thing...I've found I can get 3 fantastic shaves with them doing this routine....YMMV

But I do know some people and carbon steel do not get along even in the best of times with the best of procedures....Just thought I'd throw this out there.....I didn't get along with more than 1 shave per carbon-blade til I tried this...

But! If the FIRST shave with one of these Rite-Aid Carbons is not great....then I think it is safe to assume the blade is not cool....lol

I am having the same issue with these blades. Been looking at the gem ptfe coated but can only find them in a 100 pack. Really just want to try them out before I invest. Anyone seen any lower quantities for sale?

They sell them at Walgreens? The pfte version? I didn't see any SE blades when I was there last.

They only sell them at certain Walgreens. You have to use their site to check if they're in stock. In my area there are 5 Walgreens. Only two of which carry them.

    Awesome! Glad I could help.

Unfortunately, the Damaskeene's not holding the blade as tight as it should and needs some more tinkering. My 1914 arrived though so I can't wait to throw a ptfe in there and mow down some whiskers.

I just received my newest vintage razor today, the Eversharp Hydro-Magic. I got it on eBay. I was the only bidder, so I got it for a good price. It needed a good cleaning, and I gave it one. It turned out pretty good. I will be taking it on our first shave tomorrow.
