This little brush started out like any one of my other reknot/restore projects until the brush handle melted from the heat caused by my aggressive dremel action. I put it away not knowing what I'd ever find for a replacement handle top.....until I spotted the perfect object, a wooden lid from a Cholula hot sauce bottle. With a little imagination and a dremel tool, I carved out a handle top that resembled the original. My plan will be to clear coat the wood, keeping its natural wood appearance. Here are the pieces all dry fit together.
GREAT example of repurposing!! The final product looks wonderful and I'm sure it will work as well as it looks.
SEE! This is what I'm worried about on this old Rubberset of mine. Great save, though. That'll be a nice looking brush. Can't wait to see it finished.
Excellent idea! Like others, looking forward to seeing it finished. Based on the first picture I assume that is a 16mm knot? Is that the natural size for the Cholula cap?
Good thinking. A very unique, one-of-a-kind brush of which you can be proud. I believe @Jayaruh makes shave brushes from just the Cholula cap.
This must have been my inspiration even if it was subconciously as Ive seen this pic before.....thanks buddy.
It was a 16mm TGN boar knot used. The cap is only about 12 mm, so had to be bored out with the dremel.
