We live in a world where the name of the game is fear. Marketing has done an amazing job of making us fearful of 'germs' evrywhere. When I think back to what we did as kids, playing, hiking, hunting, fishing, and then eating outside, all with no repercussions from germs, I have to smile at the overzealous approach we now have to germs. Humans evolved without sanitizing. We will continue to survive (though maybe not some sanitizer companies) if we just move on. When I get a new razor, I just give it a wash with warm water and soap and move on. Trust me, your body's immune system is more resilient than corporate America would have you think ;-)
I tossed a new Micro One in the dishwasher a couple years ago to sterilize it before use just in case. Later learned Razor Emporium recommends it in their restoration process. So, now 3 to 4 times a year I clean my Gillette SS with Scrubbing Bubbles and a toothbrush which totally removes the soap film and shines it up. Then I toss it in the dishwasher to sterilize it just cuz. So, I say sterilize it. What can it hurt?
I wonder what pops did when he bought a new razor.....nah.... I already know that one. My parents never owned a microwave, let alone a dishwasher
Without your health, what do you have? Besides, blood borne pathogens are among the most serious you can get, so why not? Better to take care of as many unknowns as possible!
