    Happy Monday everyone!

This is the fourth day of my 30-day adventure to improve my shaving skills using the Mongoose. Pre-shave consisted of a simple face wash with Stirling Sheep Soap. Post-shave included Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel and Nivea Sensitive AS balm. I enjoy the heft and performance of the Mongoose. It was the first shave on a new Feather blade, and I could feel it. The blade will be more tame tomorrow. I had two small weepers on my neck, but otherwise my two-pass shave was great! I resisted the urge to perform many touch-ups since since time was short and the blade was new.

Have a great week, and I look forward to reading about everyone's adventures!

Today's Great Cheap AS™ is Figaro

Fresh blade planned for today. Today I will be trying to increase the dial to 5.

Today's Great Cheap AS™ is Figaro, available from shaveabuck.com. It is light and herbal with mossy and anise undertone, moderate menthol. Not a very strong scent, but very pleasing and "old school". It lets me smell like I just stepped out of the barber chair in Bulgaria, only costs around $2 a bottle and is approved by Mrs. Samurai...that makes it a Great Cheap AS™!

Back with a lab report later.

    [DJ rant]
Off topic...can somebody explain dub step to me...

It sounds like head banging thrash for the kiddies of today...my issue with it...the current crop of DJ/mixers doing dub step just wanna emphasize the wobbles and splat drops at all costs...they essentially just run the samples through a frequency processor and lop off the high and low ends of the sample. They do this so that the bassline can be turned up and placed out in front of the mix...but the noise gates and signal dampening kills the fidelity of the original record. Why must this be? Longing for the glory days of sound layering, 1987-1996, ala KLF, Orb and the like...

Ear candy from Dr Alex Patterson - play at medium volume...From the glory days..though this is ambient.
Samples are Rickie Lee Jones and the Upsetters "Blackboard Jungle Dub".

Video is Outlands by the Orb, from Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld (1991)

    01/05 – Day 4 with the Weishi

Objective: Survive a month using low end entry level products.
    • Growth: 1 day
    • Prep: Nivia; Hot shower; Corn Huskers Lotion
    • Lather: Arko – Face lathered
    • Brush: Escali Badger
    • Razor: Weishi 9306/Microtouch One
    • Blade: Derby Extra (2)
    • Post: Alum; Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Today’s Results: One slight change today as I used the Nivia due to my face feeling a bit oily. 2nd day with this Derby blade and it felt a little smoother but again the sharpness started fading toward the end. It got tossed. Even at two shaves per blade the Derby will still come out to be less than 5¢ a day. 3 passes plus a touch up and a DFS. I only noticed one hair fall out of the Super Shedder today and to that I say Cheerio!

Classical is what Google music "I feel lucky" gave me this morning. Not sure why though. Enjoyable still! No kids no wife in the house at the time. Peaceful[IMG]

Arko on Cheerios! Run out of banana? No issue...grab the Arko and let that lemon flavor shine through! I am tossing my blades every two shaves in January also....still way cheaper than carts!

I shaved accompanied only by the sound of fine Israeli steel gliding through the whiskers...I don't actually recommend DJ Splash before 9pm and then only if you're going out!
