Only been a DE shaver since March of this year, my join date is right around the time I was researching the Micro Touch One shown in the commercials. I joined a few boards and one of the more popular one was not the right fit. I find the company here much more accepting and tolerant of newbies.

I know, from zero to over 160 razors in 9 months... lol I have bad RAD.

160 razors in 9 months? You are my new hero. LOL I thought I had it bad. Next time my wife gives me that look when a new purchase shows up I'll point her to your profile. :)

Well I used it this morning as a test with my DE razor since I am not starting the challenge until the 1st. The brush was stiffer than my Omega Boar, and the loft and handle were much shorter. Al in all it was enjoyable but much different than I am used to. I will explore the question more as I work through the challenge.

Sure, use me as your scapegoat. Go ahead, I have broad shoulders. :bounce015:

Just make sure you keep me up to date on your razor count. I figure if I stay one behind you she can't give me grief. Good theory, something tells me it may not work in the real world.

My only issue is how many 30 day challenges I have to do to learn how to use them all properly. Sigh. And just wait until I decide on which ones to replate. Ka-CHING!!

It was my second time using the Cadet and first time using the Voskhod. This razor is more aggressive than my Merkur 34C and much more aggressive than my Weishi 9306f. This will certainly be a test of my technique. Got a DFS with two pass plus touch-ups. I did have a few weepers but nothing that required styptic.

Can't wait to hear more, I like the handles on the Cadets but their reported aggressiveness has caused me to stay away.

(Yes, contrary to popular belief I don't buy everything I see, just most of it.)

I love the idea...I got pretty good results on Derby. I think you and @Bristle Me are both on Derby Green. You have inspired me to tally my kit...:happy088:

Me too on the comfy factor of TSD! It's the only forum I belong too after lurking on the known ones...

I like how we are all in different places with our shaving experience...

Cadets look so good in photos...impressive in the hand too...You are one of the guys dealing with head geometry changes. The Cadet OC is a great example of a razor that requires good angles. Can't wait to SE you work it out!

I hadn't really thought of that before. I choked up quite a bit today too. Six hours after shaving, and no razor burn, so I think that was part of it. Will pay more attention on future shavings.

Prep: Hot - Warm Shower, Stirling Bath Soap - Barbershop, Neutrogena Face Wash
Razor: iKon 102 Slant with iKon Bulldog Handle
    Blade: Ladas - #3
    Brush: Omega 636 Silvertip
Lather: Martin De Candre - Savon A Raser
Post: Razo Rock - Alum Stick, Aloe Vera Toner, Witch Hazel+, Gold Bond Green Lotion
    Aftershave: Proraso Aftershave Lotion
    Cologne: Burberry

The Martin de Candre Shaving Soap far surpassed my expectations. My Silvertip brush whipped up an incredibly thick and creamy lather. The MDC's cushioning was excellent and the moisturizing outstanding. The scent (Lavender) was subtle yet pleasant, growing stronger as the shave progressed. The lather improved the performance of the iKon 102 Slant which glided through my whiskers like a hot knife through butter. A BBS shave, completed in record time, with no nicks, no burns, and no weepers. [IMG]

Is this an entry into the experiment? ;) You would be like our third slant user, @RaZorBurn123 and @Bristle Me are already declared... We would love some more vet shavers!

Weishi is very similar to a Super Speed. This should be a good test of the ubiquitous Japanese razor.

No not in. But thanks so much for the thought. I do a single edge once a week usually and have a line up of vintages and straights that I'd be neglecting. My best to all the participants. I will drop by on occasion to check on everyone's progress and photo creativity.

youngunn Where's my TSD aftershave balm???

    So my setup ...

    Morley 5/8 barbers notch
Whoos the Man - Commander soap
    New Forest 2204 badger
    Stetson a/s

I have some trepidation about this... I want this to work. But my last straight shave was middling to poor. I may not have used good technique however, which is the point of this exercise. So I will try to stick with it but if I start destroying my face I will have to back off and my reserve razor will be a Fatboy with supermax titanium blade.

Objective: I am looking to establish good technique with stropping and general care of the razor as well as working on proper grip and angles of attack during the shave. Also, working on improving lather building.

    Here's to good shaves tomorrow!

Chris, I really like this razor! I have zero irration, BBS with no effort! I've always had issues with my neck and jawline, no more. Also the blade covers more of the head so I'm able to get closer to my goatee where the blade on SC102 didn't extend the entire width of the head.

Kerry- that's awesome! It will be neat to see how stuff like blades affect the way it shaves. I also don't hear much talk about what razors are good for detail work like your goatee. You have uncovered a not so obvious point about that razor!

    are we having fun yet?

Something I wanted to share from my final 2014 SOTD.

    Happy New Year!
