Some Difficulties = opportunity for personal growth, self-denial and thorns attached.

    Other difficulties just stink.

Day 22 - 90 Day intro to SR

Day 22 brought a blade fresh of the hones. Comparing the razor to how @Keithmax had it set up on day one, I can say that Keith had it pretty sharp! The main difference is the smoothness now. But, like I said before, I don't know how bad I messed up Keith's edge learning to strop, but @gssixgun shipped back smooth as silk. One really precise pass today and I could have stopped, but did another to get DFS+. This is getting easier each day, and it's dropped down to about a 20 minute process. No safety net today...alum felt good, skin is pretty smooth. Slow night at home this evening with Mrs. Samurai and the dogs. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a great weekend!
    :)

The smoothness is likely the difference between an amateur and a pro. There is a huge level of difference in our experience.

Please post the pics, I am curious to see them. Being in Korea it is long way to send a razor to be honed. Very time consuming so I would love to see the comparison.

I am packing a pipe, emailing pics to my iPad and working it up. I wanted to do it this afternoon but got busy.

    Good morning TSD :)

My shave today - in the service of science (and my own curiosity of course):

    2301 Kopie.jpg

Since quite a few people claim that the Futur is too bulky to properly shave under the nose I decided to see for myself, so I shaved off my mustache today. :shocked003:

But let's start at the beginning: I cut the long mustache hair with my Remington beard trimmer before I reached for the soap. This Jeeves soap is one of my favorites. Fantastic scent, lathers up easily, slick, good cushioning. The new brush did a very good job as well, I like it. About as soft as the Plisson, but quite a bit more backbone (though less than the Whipped Dog synthetic, which is still my favorite).

Two passes WTG and A/XTG ... and it felt pretty odd to shave my upper lip - haven't done that for months. I proceeded with caution there and have to say: It is quite possible to get a clean shave under the nose with the Merkur Futur, it might just take a little more effort. I had to bend the tip of my nose quite a bit to reach every nook and cranny ;).

One tiny blood spot under my mouth, apart from that a very pleasant and smooth shave. Most of my face is BBS. Finished with the usual cold water rinse, a splash of Tüff and added some Clubman a few
    minutes later.

I'll continue shaving my upper lip area for the next few days to decide whether or not I like the look. :) I might just let it grow again next month...

I also thought I would not be able to shave upper lip area with a Futur. After a little work and practice it was no problem. You will get there.
