Today I pulled out the Irisch Moos. This is probably my favorite stick. It not only face lathers nicely, but smells good. I thoroughly enjoyed my shave this morning.

Razor: Gillette Black Handle Flare Tip (P1) 1970 (Marriage year razor)
    Blade: Feather Hi Stainless (4)
    Brush: Fendrihen Silver Tip 22/49
    Soap: Route 66 Frozen Margarita
    A:S TSD 2x Commando Cocktail

Lots of good stuff here today. Flare Tip is a very good razor and although this Feather blade doesn't hold it's edge as well as other Feather blades I have it works very well for 3 or 4 shaves. The TSD 2x Commando Cocktail is an excellent after shave which provides a great finish. The Route 66 Frozen Margarita has a juicy note of Mexican lime and sea salt, light hints of plum, berries and apple over mid notes of rose and jasmine; anchored with earthy, freshly cut hay, topped with a dash of cooling menthol.

Back in Columbia, where it is drying out from rain (no snow or ice here fortunately) and fairly warm. Had a good training/conference where the topic was communication and leadership. Yep, two subjects that produce a ton of BS and for me about 20 hours of sheer boredom spread over three days. I kept trying to figure out a bright spot in the conference, but was not able to do so. I had hoped the reception with bar would be a bright spot, but the bar they had was not even open bar, but a cash bar! :shocked003:

I did not shave yesterday or this morning. I will be shaving tonight and I will be using a new blade. It is one I have not heard of and don't think I have even seen reported on by Neal. It is the MEM blade out of China. I got this blade as an extra in a sampler pack and figured I might as well give it a go . . . in the name of science of course. It apparently is platinum coated, but the tryablade.com description really gives me hope! The site says: "We got our hopes up when we seen them available. Unfortunately, we didn't know they were imitation until they were on the way. That is the reason they are priced so low. We just want them gone."

What's the worst that can happen? :signs002:

30-day focus with my Schick Type C1 - The Simplified Schick Automatic Razor.

    Shave 16
    Razor: Schick Type C1
Blade: NOS Schick Twin Injector 1973 (1)
    Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary

    IMG_3669.JPG

This will be the 6th and final blade type that I will try this month in the C1. I will attempt to give a final review at the end of the month (in the 30-Day Focus Thread) but all blades have performed very well in the trials.

The wider and thicker twin blade was not made for this razor. Fortunately the mechanism that holds the blade is not like the more common injectors in that it does not use a ‘key’ to load. So I manually loaded it. This blade also is wider so the exposure is different than other blades in this razor. But…

…another great shave. With a very light touch (no pressure) I got a clean and very close shave that is now four hours old and with the same ‘just shaved’ feeling.

    Cheers!

    Focus day 23

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Astra SP (3)
    Razor: Wet Shave Club 3-piece
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso White
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

One pass with touch-up CCS this morning. I think I've dialed in the water amount for the Proraso, along with being more aggressive in loading and face lathering with the Satin Tip brush. The soap needed a little more water and the brush needed a little more force. Those additions have created a much better lathering experience than I was getting a couple of weeks ago.

24-hour beard growth only needed the one pass with touch-up around my jaw and neck. I could have gone for more closeness, but "less is more" is often a good adage. It applied today.

    Have a great Tuesday!

I read some fantastic reviews on Jabonman, an artisan shave soap made in Spain. I recall seeing it in a few of Adam's SOTD posts. The artisan's name is Manuel, and we communicated via email. He is a gentleman, and he's very quick to respond. I didn't recognize some of the scents by their names, so I did some research and ordered pucks of Wet Earth (earthy, vetiver scent) and Eastern Breeze ("heavily spiced, warm wine" scent). I understand that he's known for floral and bold, unique scents. I went all in and picked up a couple of the unique scents.

    Back to normal programming. :D

Shaved this morning but got a call from work during touch up and had to stop early. Still ended up with a comfortable near BBS from my Phoenix DOC loaded with the Gillette Silver Blue.
2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Pass 2: ATG. Very good reduction from both passes. Did a small amount of touch up with the lather already on my face. A cool water rinse and I started my touch up. I almost caught the baby before work called. I had enough lather left over for at least another 2 or 3 passes. The Pinaud Clubman stung a little less than yesterday. Maybe because I didn't go over my neck that "last" time. ;)

I hope everyone had a great Monday.
