Sounds like every day is better and better, Terry. Great pic as well.
Glad to hear the stick worked well, Perry! You don't seem to pull the Featherweight out as often, but it seems to give you good shaves when you do.
Great photo effect again, Jim. Have fun at the Birthday shindig tonight!
Sorry about the cut, Jim. Do you stretch your skin off of your Adam's Apple? If not, it is a good way to ensure you don't high-centre the blade there.
Beautiful bowl, Clint, even if it is only used for the pic! Or was your wife watching again?:)
Cool looking brush, Brian. Which goodies in the photo were the gifts? If they all were, that was quite a haul.
Another very informative write up, John.
FYI- Italian Barber has a few different kinds of those Rapira razors...
The scent sounds terrific, Andrew! I never actually owned the original Polo, but do remember how popular it was. Probably a pretty good reason for that.

I do stretch the skin away from my adams apple. I was going for a pass alongside my adams apple and in a moment's lack of attention I knicked my adams apple coming in.

Thanks, Jason! I do enjoy the Featherweight but use injectors more often. I'm using the Featherweight again Friday. A Facebook group I'm in is having a Featherweight Friday.

    15th focus shave

I used C.O. Bigelow this morning for a Menthol Monday shave. The LE brush easily whipped up a fantastic lather with a light menthol scent that seemed just about perfect for a shavette shave. I performed two passes and touch ups using an appropriate level of Kung Fu for a very close and comfortable shave with the Parker SRX. If I focus and take my time, this shavette rewards me with a fantastic shave every time.

I had a great day with my sweet kids at the hospital. I hope you all had a nice one as well.

Now that looks like a fun birthday party

I struggle with lite razors be they DE or straights. I too hated my Dovo and PIF’ed a long time ago. I usually cut myself with a lite razor as I don’t seem to be able control them but with a heavy razor it seems I have a very fine control and get just the blade angle I want. To our Dovo shavette masters I salute you, I am not mocking you. We each have our own preferences and that is what makes life interesting.

    Keith, than
Keith, Thank you! I didn't realize how many guys have trouble with the Dovo shavette and not with others, such as Parker, Feather, etc. Admittedly, the Dovo shavette needs a very light touch to get good to great shaves. As I mentioned awhile back, I started with the Dovo shavette and took to it w/o a problem. In fact, I did 2 passes the very first time and 3 thereafter. As I was researching, I have read that straights are easier to learn than shavettes. So after the 16th shavette shave, I started on traditional straights. I was anxious when I put a traditional straight to my face, but after the first swipe, it was great and did 3 passes with 1 nick. I believe I did well with the traditional straight right out of the gate because I did well with the Dovo shavette. Now, with some guys, they did poorly on the traditional straight, but did well on the shavette or vice-versa. My conclusion is that it depends on the person's adaptability with each razor type. I have been shaving over 45 years, but the last 5 yrs was DE safety and since October, shavette and straight razor shaving. I guess I am one of the fortunate ones that is able to switch back and forth among, DE safety, shavette and traditional razors. To me, it is about changing your technique based on the type of razor and/ or blade. My motto: Whatever means necessary to achieve a good to excellent result is the right one for whomever shaves.

    Tuesday Shave

In keeping with my focus, I pulled this out of the storage drawer, Mike's soap used to work for me then stopped. So I put in the drawer a couple of years ago and now it is time to see if it can regain my favor.

I find boar brushes increase the probability of success with a difficult soap so I went with my big Omega Pro. I got a very wet lather and it had decent slickness too. Sadly the soap has lost all of it's scent.

I will start doing mini focuses during the weekdays, this weeks focus is European full hollow razors. First up is a Dovo Master's a 6/8 stainless model in my favorite design, it has a thumb notch, plus it also looks cool.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A Smoothness A Sharpness A+

Razor: Dovo Masters 6/8 full hollow
    Strop: T Miller
    Brush: Omega Pro
    Pre: Nivea
    Soap: Mike’s
    AS: Speick AS, L’Occitane ASB
    Scent: Zoologist Rhinoceros
