Jim, I think you’ll find a host of things to keep you busy! I teach part-time and volunteer at a local no-kill animal shelter! I’m one of the few volunteers willing to work with the discarded snakes and lizards. There are lots of things you’ll find to do, the difference being you’re choosing to do them and setting your own hours.

 

Very nice shave, Joe. Any idea why DG reformulated their soap and what was done to it? Curious if it was based on customer feedback.

I’ve used them in my L Type, but only use them for dome shaves, as I shave my mug with a straight. Six shaves is about all she wrote for me with those blades regardless of razor. YMMV.

Great DX shave, Blair! I know many find Barber’s razors like the DX to be less forgiving than a regular straight, but I find just the opposite true! In fact, if I’m not getting as glass smooth as I’d like with a particular straight, I’ve been known to pull out my trusty DX to clean things up.

I know you were replying to Joe, but I wonder if it was customer feedback that forced Rise to reformulate. If so, those customers are going to have to get by me! (Ahh, it was a great foam, but they had it going well when it was the original. Another one of those "Gee, let's try THIS and see what happens".)

Dome and face are 2 different things. Maybe it is your dome burning out the blades quicker, I still say it is you not using them as that were meant for which is face shaving that is limiting their lifespan. Kind of like using something well out of it's spec'd range and then saying it is the item's fault not the user when it doesn't work as expected.
