I've been following this thread since you Gents started it. I want to start using soaps as well as creams. I have a couple of pucks of Aramis soap. I'm using one as a practice aid. Anyway, I got home from work today and decided to order some Rum Runner soap. I'm thinking of using it in February as part of the Focus I will be doing for the Parker 99r I got unexpectedly from my neighbor. I also after reading up on it here and other places, ordered a Omega 10098 brush. Looking forward to using both next month.
It looks like you are off to a good start. We look forward to seeing you in the thirty day focus threads. Have fun!
Rum Runner is a good choice! The soap base, I believe, is the same regardless of the scent. It doesn't get much better than Route 66 for slickness, glide, cushion, and post-shave feel. Thanks for following along with us this month and glad we could convince you to try some Route 66!

SOTD January 26, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick G8 injector Brush: Artisan badger Lather: Route 66 Sweeney Todd Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with TSD Energy, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Incredible lather this morning. Rich, slick, shiny, and all the other good qualities you look for. The badger whipped it up in no time and felt so luxuriant when face lathering. One big pass and touch-up on the neck and jaw and call it a day. Nice and smooth shave. I am quite impressed with Route 66 and it's been a lot of fun to focus in on it this month. Have a great day!
Apologies for being MIA from this thread for a couple of days. What I thought was a cold, turned into a massive wallop from a flu that has flattened me for a couple of days. Anyway, on the mend and catching up in the shop starting today. Can't wait to get back on here later today to catch up with all your posts. You guys are awesome!
Razor: Gillette Super Speed Black Handle Flare Tip (P1) Blade: Gillette Platinum (2) Brush: WDC-7 Olivewood Handle, Silvertip Soap: Route 66 Casablanca Aftershave: Floid Blue To my understand the Route 66 Casablanca is no longer available. To bad in my opinion. I really like this soap. I started off with the Olivewood Silvertip, but as there was more hairs flying than in a cat fight I switched to Tom White's Nylon 3D Printer brush with the Faux Horsehair Extra Dense Synthetic, which whipped up a great lather. I recently changed the knot in this brush and the AP Shave Co. Faux Horsehair was the only 22 mm knot that I had. Start: Change:
