That would be more like Williams. However, this much Arko might actually clean the beaches if you'd toss it in and just let the surf at it.
I'm curious about your source for the Dorco. The one I used came with a Dorco Pl-602 plastic safety razor. I wonder if they are truly the same blade. They were both of course labeled ST-300 Sent from my Galaxy S6 using Tapatalk
I feel like based on the performance I had it may have been a st-301 or an stp-301 in a 300 wrapper LOL Sent from my Galaxy S6 using Tapatalk
There are some who think they just rewrapped the 300's in 301 wrappers or maybe the other way around. LOL I'm trying to sort some of that out before I post much about the blade.
Rockwell 6S/R5 Plate/ Voskhod (2) Stirling 24mm Finest 2 Band Tabac Thayers Clubman Pinaud As I stated earlier the R5 plate was the one to pop up first so this will be my setup for the nect week or two I use it. About 12.5 hour beard on my pretty face and the last time I used the R5 plate I remember it being pretty aggressive (I believe my exact words where "R41 like but not as bitey") so I made sure to really slow down this shave and pay attention to angle and what not. 2nd shave on the Voskhod and it tore through my stubble like a hot knife through butter. Tried blade buffing on one of my trouble spots on my neck and was resulted in a BBS shave in that spot but also some irritation. Besides the neck it was a pretty uneventful shave and I did 2 passes and reeling the baby in. Finished off with Alum (burned pretty good in that spot but subsided fairly quickly) and Thayers. After clean up I splashed on some Clubman and am ready to go relax for the night. Have a good one all.
Your posts the last few months seem to indicate that Dutch Schick is an order of magnitude above China Schick. As it is, China Schick is quite ok. Are the Dutch blades that noticeably better?
July Leopard Blade Trials Cartel Week, Sharp Star 2(2) Shave was great! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a great Friday?
I've been going through Dorco's website. They have a new shaving cream in a tube that I guess they're calling "D Creme". The D is in the stylized type they use for branding. But, if you just go ahead and use the name...Dorco....and say it.....Dorco Cream.....doesn't that sound like if you use this cream you'll turn into a Dorc.....o? Yeah, really an unfortunate company name.
Imagine the reviews/connercials you could do with a name like that. (pulls pin, tosses over left shoulder, walks away)
Trust me, SWMBO is tired of hearing them. LOL I put on my best Loony Toons stupid monster voice for a few of them. My introduction to the blade over on the blog was one of the most difficult thing I've written. The more I research them the more confused I get. And I think the theory that @Linuxguile threw out about blades in wrong wrappers may be closer to the truth than we think. Perhaps even just the typical modus operandi. Did they actually change the blades? Not sure. What's the difference in the 300 and 301? Don't really know for sure. The Prime seems to have had Teflon added but....was it there all along? Sheesh.
In a word, yes and yes. The Chinese blades are fine reliable blades, no question. But the NOS blades take injector shaving to another level. Doing all the testing and learning I do of injector razors over the past 9 - 10 months I realize I use the Chinese Schicks to start out learning a razor with, and then shift to other blades. I do this for a couple of reasons - I trust the Chinese Schick to not cut me when I use a very aggressive razor; and because they are still in production and are the most cost effective as a frequently-tossed test blade. I think there's just maybe one or two other injector blades that are being produced currently. So I save all the NOS blades for once Ive gotten comfortable with a razor. And yes, I get my best shaves with NOS blades. In fact there isn't one injector I've tried (I think I'm up to about 18) where I prefer the Chinese blade. They are good blades, but to me there are many sharper NOS blades and just one sharper present day blade - a cut-down AC Feather Pro. Just as important, the same thing occurs regarding smoothness. I guess that's why so many injector guys tend to hoard NOS blades - no present day supplier of great blades. Of course this is a YMMV thing. Some guys swear by the Chinese blades in a particular razor, some use only Pella or Personna blades in every injector they shave with. I could use them as well as my regular blades, but a as long as I have access to blades that are "an order of magnitude better" to me - I will use them. (at least until it drives me to eat cat food rather than hamburger! But at that point I'll be growing a beard!)
Just the look of that blade says you have something above and beyond. Mastro Livi in the house. Am I jealous? Nope. You just suck. Ok, so a little jealous maybe.
