SOTD 7/24/16 Razor: Boker & Co #387 Strop: Drygulch Leatherworks Forty-Five Series American bridle/ poly Soap: Route 66 A Perfect Gent Brush: Omega Boar travel brush Post: Cold water, alum, Thayers' Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman w/ M-Bomb Vacation shave. Borrowed my brother in law's strop, and found a lather bowl my wife made 20 years ago. This Boker was a 20 dollar eBay find that I had restored with new horn scales. My original intention was to flip it, but I am really enjoying using it. New Route 66 sample, A Perfect Gent. I love the scent on the puck, but the scent while using it is a little different. Still very nice but not quite the same. Glad I lathered it before I ordered it. Two and a half pass shave. This house has a water softener, so the lather was different. Relaxing and nice shave, just shy of BBS, and very little irritation.

July 24, 2016 Happy Shave Den Sunday! Last week of my July Focus on two non-Schick injector razors: PAL InjectoMatic Personna Floating Head Used each on either side of my face with TSD Yin Yang! (My fave) Using the blade in each razor that worked best for me this month: PAL InjectoMatic with NOS Dutch Schick blade Personna Floating Head with NOS Personna *74 blade Beautiful shave on each side of my face. Slight edge to the PFH for reduction and smoothness. Will be doing this side-by-side assessment all week. Cheers! RT
Today's focus shaving is using my big heavy Jacob Ray 7/8 in bone scales. Glen, @gssixgun , honed this razor for me and has a number shaves on it since it's return. It still has a silky smooth but sharp edge. I did not have time for the full ATG pass so no BBS today. Still a comfortable shave. Irritation A- Closeness B+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A
In the Good Old Shavertime! July 24 Grand Blade Trial Day Off Shave Ok boys and girls, men and women and all the ships at sea. Time to reveal my Day Off Shave today. Seven of you took you best shot at my setup based on my options today and there was one who nailed it. Perfectly. One who got three out of four right, One who got 2 right, three who got 1 right and one who got zero but did venture a guess. So, I'm going to award prizes. To the first place winner - 25 Russian blades of their choosing. To second place, 20 blades. Third place 10 blades and the final four places get a tuck each. More on that in a bit. Here is the Day Off Shave for today! Razor - '46-'47 Aristocrat Blade - Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum, Nivea, The Veg (the usual so didn't ask) The very first post nailed it so well done to @RyX ! Second goes to @Norcalnewb who only chose the wrong brush. Yes, I know, the BoS is an awesome brush, but the Wolf won the day. Third goes to @ob1page who nailed the razor and brush but didn't choose wisely on the blade and soap. And yes, I know, Tabac is definitely a fav....but the Fat.....still beats it by a hair in my book. @mrchick , @cmorris357 , and @John Ruschmeyer all get a tuck of blades for getting one right. @Linuxguile gets a tuck for giving it a shot....and....choosing the Bic blade along with @cmorris357 .....apparently they remembered that Bic is my favorite non-Russian blade. If you seven gentlemen would kindly send me a PM with your name and address and your choice of blades I will get them on their way this week. You may choose from......... You can mix or match if you want. Thanks for playing along!! Made the day go faster and I do love sharing Russian Steel!! Oh, and by the way....what a MAGNIFICENT shave. Makes me ready to tackle the Shark Super Stainless tomorrow!
SOTD 7/25/16 Razor: Schick L1 Blade: Chick (2) Brush: TGN synthetic Soap: Arko Post: cold water rinse, alum, The Veg. Tonight was a quick shave because a friend called me up to go out to dinner. So it was a quick 2 pass shave to be ready in time to go out with him to dinner. No pre this time as didn't have time to take a shower, so it was just a good wet down with hot water and shave. First pass was of course WTG and gave me good reduction, for tonight's trip I could have stopped there with a CCS. I wanted a DFS so onto the second pass XTG/ATG combo which gave me a little better than DFS before heading out. I rinsed my face off with cold water then rubbed the alum on, I noticed one little spot of tingle but that was it. I rinsed off again and splashed on a little Veg and called it good for tonight's trip. Dinner was good, Sonny's BBQ, we got the all you can eat pulled pork plates with fries and BBQ baked beans. It was a good time sitting down to eat with my friend and just shooting the Sh**t so to speak. We both ate too much and were full to the brim, so we headed back out to his car and came back home. Hope everyone had a Great shave today!
July Blade Trials GSB !!!! SOTD 23-24 July 2016 Moving around a bit, now in Huntsville at my parent's place. The visit was wonderful, and meeting my new niece was such a blessing, she's perfect in every way! Tomorrow, off to the Commonwealth of Kentucky for some R&R, pipes, DIY projects and maybe a poker game or two. The shaves have been great, hope everyone here is doing well. I will try and get caught up,with reading soon. Have a Magnificient Monday!
Ah Hah! "Not a question if I won, but did you?" The choice was easy. I thought to myself; if those item were available to me what would I use? We both won. I'm glad you had a great shave on your day off from The Grand Blade Trials!
Monday Shave Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored Razor- PAL InjectoMatic Blade- Schick Soap- Stirling Spice Post Care- Crystal Alum Thayers Witch Hazel Old Spice Lime Wonderful three pass shave this morning! This razor is almost effortless and I get consistent results with it. First shave including the Old Spice lime so I used my Stirling Spice to complement it. Wonderful lather and scent, Stirling is one of my top two soaps and today it performed beautifully. My face is dolphin smooth and there was zero feedback from the alum. The Old Spice lime felt great going on, no burn, and the alcohol smell settled very quickly so all I'm left with its a wonderful combination of citrus and spice. I love this aftershave. Have a great day folks!
July Focus Day 25: Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Frozen Tundra Gillette Aristocrat Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill AS Back to real world today, and back to the gym this morning. I went with the Aristocrat this morning, and it didn't disappoint. Easy, smooth and comfortable. I really enjoyed this shave, even standing next to three other individuals also trying to get ready for work. I did two passes and got a DFS. Since it is Menthol Monday, I chose Stirling Frozen Tundra and finished with the Glacial Lemon Chill. It all came together for a great shave. I hope everyone has a great day!
