With all the newer members of The Crew I've been trying to behave myself in a more Focused manner. Being naturally flibberdigibbet about my choice of hard or software sets what I thought of as a Bad Example. Now I can rely on the co-dependent nature of my fellow Unfocused Focusers. :happy088:

Ooo...Schick J-1! Those take Twin blades well. Chris @Bama Samurai set me up with mine and it's still one of my top three injectors.
On the issues with you Fat Boy, Capt.Murphy ( ?) seems to be the go to guy for tune ups on adjustable Gillettes. Are you thinking just getting it shaving correctly, or refinished?

Thank you, Doug. It sounds like she had a great time. After spending a week at my parents and then most of this week at camp, we are definitely ready for her to be around for a bit. She is getting to that age to where she doesn't mind being away from mom and dad quite as much.

What would happen if the Veg doesn't choo-choo-choose me?

I remember you saying something about the Fatip inspiring Ride the Cap and tried to focus on that throughout the shave.

I might do a rule...we'll see. I'm seeing improvement so I will not give up on it.

Was thinking of both. That's why I was wondering if a Delta Echo refinish/rebuild would be enough or if I'd likely get the sme issues back in a refinished razor. Maybe I should send it off and see how he assesses it?

    Great photo Jim.

I know you're glad she's home after being away.

If you are looking to get it replated, then I would get in line with Chris at Razorplate.com. A bit of a wait list but that's because he's the best in the business still -- partly because he sends Gillette adjustables over to Cap Murphy for adjustment and repair before he does his excellent replate on them, so it's a one-two combination there.

I know Delta Echo are top notch on doing the gun coatings on razors but I don't have any idea how good they are at fixing malfunctioning adjustables first. Probably okay because they totally disassemble them for the coating and probably catch any issues in the process, but I don’t have any real knowledge about that side of things. If it were me, I would contact them first and ask if they can sort out your problem or if you should send the FB to a repair specialist first. My sense is that you will likely get an honest answer from them.

And my face feels and looks so much better this time. Last time I had red razor burn all over under my jaw and neck with the red bumps that looked pretty bad for a couple days.

Saturday July 1 - Happy Canada Day!

    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 )
    Alluminati Envy White badger brush
    Dirty Deeds Arroyo Cactus soap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave

I started July off using the Dirty Deeds Arroyo Cactus sample soap again, this time with my Alluminati badger brush. Still no appreciable wear on the puck, even though the brush loaded enough product to whip up about six passes worth of lather.

The cactus scent is pleasant, sort of a crisp and slightly pungent floral scent. Performance is good and the after feel is not at all drying. I don’t think I would class the soap as absolutely top notch, but it is very very good.

My usual two passes brought me to a DFS without any irritation or complaints from the alum. Overall a good shave to start the day.

Thank you, Clint! My wife is really excited. They tend having some mother daughter time in the bed while my daughter tells my wife all about camp.

Here you go, Doug. Best I can do with my BlackBerry PlayBook. My little bottle of Thayers Aftershave is down to its last half inch and my alum block is now more of an alum sliver with a rubber band wrapped around it to give me a grip...

It's ok. It's not a gig for everyone.

If the Veg doesn't choose you it will suddenly seem like the most awful scent you've ever smelled. Only the worthy are chosen, but I'm pretty sure you're in that group.

More learning from this morning's shave. Like Frank, I was having trouble keeping a lather that was thick enough and would hold up to 3 passes using the Route 66 soaps using the small samples from the Pass Around. Today, I took what I had left of my Route 66 samples of rum runner and bourbon jungle (which is about 3 times the soap I would usually need to make a decent lather) and I was able to make great thick lather that held up for three passes. Unfortunately for me, the scent strength still wasn't where I like it to be. I confirmed this by whipping up another dense lather with cranberry citrus. Final verdict for me: Route 66 has good soaps that are well regarded by many. For me, they require more soap than normal to produce a dense lather, and the scents are outstanding, but of only medium strength, which just isn't strong enough for me. As with everything shave related, YMMV.

Definitely did not find it offensive at all. Just maybe a little too floral. That was the first time I've ever used AS. I always used the Nivea for men balm back when I shaved with a cartridge.

I don't mind the scent of the Veg. The problem is that most people around me DO mind the scent of it on me. I have been decanting mine for a while now and may give it another shot.
