Those have Charlie's name written all over them.

Thank you! Finally some sanity around here. That won't last long.

See what I mean! Clearly this is a staged propaganda photo! On top of that I missed the cartel sponsored propaganda cookie handout! AAAGGGHHH!

True story - My old pastor told a story about hosting a missionary from Russia who had been expelled from that country for his beliefs during the cold war. They took him to Publix to get groceries, and he said "Wow, I've never seen this kind of variety of products to buy before. This is clearly impressive. So where do you and your family go to shop for groceries?" My pastor, confused, said "I don't understand your question, this is where we shop." The missionary replied. "I know the drill. This is obviously the store where the government has you take guests to impress them, but between you and me where do you really shop?" He couldn't believe that we didn't have government subsidized "display" stores to impress foreigners and they they actually shopped there on a regular basis.

Hope you guys are having a great time. Wish I was there. Last night I asked MacKenzie what she wanted to do this weekend. She looked me in the eye and said "You and I need to take it easy this weekend and rest, Dad." She's right. Oh well, like Baylor football fans say at the end of each season... "Well, there's always next year". In fact sometimes we say that about 2 games into the season. Cheers guys,

Pics and notes from the Meetup breakfast.

Well, you've seen a bit of what we got up to and heard a bit. Here's the "official" report so far. After last night's informal gathering of a few of us we kicked it off with breakfast at Golden Corral. @Bama Samurai , @wristwatchb , @mrchick , @Drygulch , @Paul76 , and @Keithmax and myself all showed up along with Charlie's lovely better half Kathy and my lovely better half Jennifer. We basically took over a pretty good sized corner of one of the dining areas and just had a great time. Following breakfast the Shavey Awards were presented to the group and the box of freebies was passed around from @BaylorGator . Not only did some of those items disappear but a few new ones ended up in the box as some horse trading occcured, so I have plenty of PIF material for the future from that.

All of the attendees received their Cartel approved blade selection (A tuck each of Voskhod, Rapira PL, Rapira Swede, Rapira Chrome, Ladas, Sharp Star, and Sputnik) as well as the cookies. So dies the great cookie rebellion. For now, at least. (You can't trust those dissidents. They pop up when you least expect them.)

Adam revealed his collection of straight razors and lots of discussion followed, and the Meetup LE soap and AS set was passed around, bought, sniffed, sniffed again, and sniffed some more. At this point I'm sure some of the other customers were a bit confused at our love of sniffing plastic tubs.

Adam also produced a surprise by handing me a really good looking gold Gillette Toggle to admire, then allowed me to hang onto it to play with for awhile. I never turn down a chance to play with a toy like that. Other trades and gifts were made around and discussion and just plain fun and good times ensued until a little after noon. Good grief but we talk as much in person as we do online! I also added to my stash of stuff with some free Wheat State Soap and AS from Adam and some TSD Bay Rum aftershave from Paul. Thanks guys!

As we took off for the afternoon break to allow Keith and Chris some beauty sleep I think we would all agree this was great fun! Good times were had, soaps and other products bought and traded, and we're looking forward to the BBQ tonight. We should add another one or two members tonight at dinner and all I can say is, Let the good times roll! A few pics to commemorate the event. Sorry about the quality on some but the morning STL sun was a bit bright and already heating it into the 90s!

Thanks for the report and pics, Neal. Not quite as good as being there but great to be able to share in it a bit this way anyway. Hope the weekend continues to go great for all of you. Any chance of getting some takeout BBQ shipped from this evening? ;)

I'll pass that request on to Keith. He's pretty much drooling at all of the American food and I'm thinking he may try for a shipping container of BBQ sent back to Seoul. If he works that out we'll see about some smaller shipments for others!

I just googled it, twelve hour drive from Denver to St. Louis. Probably no leftovers by the time I got there.

Not sure why but nobody would let me try my new tattoo gun on them. I assured them it completely safe. A12FE1D7-B26E-4EF4-842C-5D5FC0719FF2.jpeg

I should mention that, as Czar and....as an Alabama fan (Roll Tide!), showing me a video of Auburn's clearly unsportsmanlike and potentially rule breaking run back on that field goal attempt (no, rules don't matter, I'm the Czar) will pretty much guarantee a visit from Boris and Igor.

Some things are worth getting roughed up over. Besides, those guys are suckers for ice cream.

  13. Hi chaps, sorry for the absence, been away for a few days planning what we're doing for 2019! All fun. Had some decent shaves in a hotel with the R89. Getting the hang of it now. Very little burn from the Alum block and pretty close shaves. Close enough to keep me happy most days. The 30 day rule really is a good disciplinary learning tool.

I'm off Tuesday for a couple of weeks visiting my father who's unwell. Will try to check in where possible.

I'm tempted to take a straight as I'll have more time to shave and practice. Not sure whether to go with a SR or my Feather Clubman. What do you think?

I was about to come looking for you! ;)

I wondered how things were going with your shaves, and with life in general. Congrats on the progress with the R89! Why not take it with you, and continue focus with it until you can nail the shaves every time?
Sorry to hear that your father isn't doing so well. I wish you both all the best.

Boris and Igor are “resting” in the park behind the hotel. I doubt they will be a problem. [IMG]
