Thank you Jim. I don't do as good a job at rotating through all my soaps as you do. I think this lets me use some up quicker. For example my A&E Frozen Mojito soap is about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way gone.

I have chromium oxide (green). There is a set red/black I've seen marketed as "Dovo" and "Herold" which I also have. They don't specify what the exact abrasive is but one could guess that the black may be diamond. It is supposed to be finer than the red which is likely iron oxide.

Then you can find a whole host of pastes/emulsions/compounds of diamond and cubic boron nitride from a couple of microns down to 1/10 micron. Add in the numerous base media to apply these stropping media to and I think an individual can get about enough options to make his head spin.

The main thing is that the final edge evaluation is largely unquantifiable and purely into the personal preference category.

I have yet to hear any honemiester make the claim that he can produce an edge that will outshave a shavette.

I've got tools that "get close" which is the closest I've heard.

The diversity and challenge is fun.

Medium starch, creased to the shoulder seam. Zero wrinkles, please.

OMG, I haven't ironed a shirt in years. In my days on the road, every day.

Lost focus to shave with a DE razor today. Just had a hankering, I guess.
Or, maybe I had a hankering for a real BBS for a change. :signs002:
Bloomed and bowl-lathered the Tabac for a superb lather.

This picture simply does not do justice to the sheen Tabac has, when properly hydrated.
The Gillette SR was loaded with a previously used Personna 74 blade.
Lot's of life still left in that blade. One of the biggest differences between a straight and a DE shave
is the "pull" through the stroke. The DE razor is like "wiping" off the whiskers, while the straight is mos def©
    "cutting". No doubt about it.
2 passes and the baby was captured...even those pesky areas on the neck.
Post-shave was typical Primo: Alum/Thayer's followed by the AS.
The Tabac AS felt great splashed on my face and I am smelling...

    great. :happy097:

I agree, Bill! How to maintain a straight razor is a personal decision. I use Crox crayon on my polyweb while others use pastes. The same goes for choosing a honing method, i.e. natural, stones, synthetic stones, and lapping fims

Joseph, awesome shave! Although I prefer straights over DE safeties, I use the safeties to change things up. Also, they need some love.

Great shave, Clint! I was so happy to finish my first puck. It was Rockwell's Barbershop. I liked the soap but the price was $15 for 4 oz. I thought it was too expensive for the quality of the soap. Now, I want to finish a Williams puck because I have new one to replace it. Anyway, have a good day, Clint!

Jim, that's a wonderful setup and shave. Although it's rare, I have seen guys use a safety, shave soap and brush, but never a cart with the other paraphernalia.

Thank you Joe. I generally finish 4 or more pucks of soap a year. I am running behind that number this year.
