I don't pay much attention to water quality, except to drink..(I buy bottled).

I guess I was about that age when I began shaving...and, like him, doing it by the electric persuasion.

I didn't know what residual slickness was until a trip to New Orleans a few years ago. I'm sure I could have lathered once and had enough slickness to do all three passes. Never had anything like that before or since. It was amazing.

Our water now is better than it's ever been, still fight the dry climate though. My face dries surprisingly fast once the lather is wiped away.

Yep, Mississippi River water, filtered from brown to clear (with not much added) for most of east/southeastern Louisiana and western side of Mississippi. Baton Rouge (where I grew up) their water is still a noticeable remarkable difference to me with it's taste when I go visit family in the areas. Dense, soft compared to TX supplied water.

Edit....Tea, now there's where it really shows up. Somewhat in coffee....but oh my, I've not been able to match the tea Mom made, even using the same bags/water ratio, of the same brand.

I visited a life long friend back in January. Luzianne Tea pitcher of tea and chicken/deer gumbo for lunch/dinner. Geez.....lip smacking stuff.

Home reverse osmosis units with a dedicated point of use faucet work pretty well. I’ve used one for 30 years.
