Great combination this morning. Cool grain patterns in that brush handle.

BTW…..it’s not allowed to post images of steaks marinating with no after flame images…..:eatdrink020:

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, JULY 18, 2021

Today marks my return to two handed straight razor mug shaves! And what better razor for the debut than my sweet little Boker cast steel French Point 5/8. After its touch up on the jasper stone and consequent run through Howard Schecter’s Constroption, Madame Boker swept away my mug whiskers like the Romans through the Sabine women in three very careful passes! Although my left hand did cramp up a bit, requiring the shave to be a bit more drawn out, the Traveling Wilbury’s “Handle With Care” was definitely an appropriate background refrain.

The long handle on my 1920 Gillette Big Fellow was just the ticket for my recovering left hand and arm enabling me to get at the back and sides of my noggin and complete my usual two ATG passes with no compromises. Just a shout out to my sweet smelling beautiful young physical therapist, Dr. Jenna! Despite my grousing and complaining, I’m truly grateful to this wonderful young woman! As she kept saying, put in the work, and you’ll get the results! I feel cool, clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: Boker Cast Steel French Point 5/8 (Mug), Gillette Big Fellow (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute with 26mm Two Band Badger Ferrule
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Osage Rub and Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm.

Sunday shaver seemed the obvious choice for today's focus shave.

This tool has a vicious point, and although I came through the shave unscathed,
nevertheless, one must exercise extreme caution---especially around the ears.
The Valobra Patchouly is a tallow-based,
discontinued product, which is nothing short of excellent.
The lather, when created properly, is shiny and slick and extremely protective.
Looks good on the brush as well.

Three passes and a nice result all over, even the neck was reasonably well shaved.
The fragrance is a throw back to 1974 and this bottle dates from then.
It also has a very similar scent as the Valobra. I
    don't look for a soap/fragrance match anymore,
    but this one works well.

    Good morning!

Awesome shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Nearly silent alum.

The initial plan was to use FMM on Tobacco Tuesday. Couldn't wait. Powerful boozy tobacco that I can actually pick up most of the scent notes in the description. Probably not for everyone but I love it!

From the Barrister and Mann website:

It was inspired by photos of richly appointed libraries, peppered with winged leather armchairs, a glass of fine whiskey, and the smell of aging teak and mahogany wafting from the shelves. Genteel and smooth, the fragrance combines notes of cured tobacco, sandalwood, Mousse de Saxe (whose inky tang suffuses the entire scent like a whispered promise), citrus, vanilla, resins, myrrh, and geranium. This is one of our best "classic" masculine fragrances ever, one to make you feel like enjoying a glass of aged brandy in a bespoke suit before a roaring fire. Simply put, it smells awesome, and so will you. Take advantage of that at your discretion.

    Have a great day!
