Another great shave this morning, 2 passes with touch ups got me as close to BBS as I have time for. Finished off with a splash of Floid Vigoroso from the sample pack. Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Is it super slick? The soap? I got this soap from Joe on my birthday, I love the smell and it performed well. I get good comfortable shaves, but I feel it lacks a little in slickness

    Day #4 of 5; 30-Days of June
A near-identical repeat of yesterday's fine shave using the same razor and soap, although I went with a silvertip badger in place of synthetic brush.
Excellent lather and great performance from the tallow-based soap. Typical three passes with the Dubl Duck with predictable results. One more day with this fine razors before I switch out to another (although I may have gotten my day count off somewhere as today is the 20th, 10 more days in June and two razors to go. I may switch out tomorrow….) :o

Decided to skip my shave today, but still accomplished a shave-related task.

I spend a good deal of time traveling for work and overnighting in hotels, so...

Inspired by a design I saw in a TSD thread by @sir_mike and @Jayaruh .....

I made my own Arko travel dispenser!
(Using an empty push-up deodorant container.)

That's about the extent of my creative DIY talents, but thanks guys!

    Cheers!

I like those suction cup holders! Where did you pick those up if you don't mind me asking?

Amazon. Its actually a toothbrush holder.
It's one piece with 4 slots. Suction cup at each end.

Squeezed for available counter space, thought I'd give this a try about a month ago. Testing its ability to stay in place. Two razors are fine, three may be too heavy. Will test with a new acquisition soon.

    $6. Was worth the try.

I thought it was slick but then I added a good bit of water as I face lathered to get it where I wanted it to be.

It's not as slick as some other soaps for sure but I didn't notice a problem with it. I face lather all the time and with all soaps, I load the brush and start lathering. I add water slowly and keep lathering until I get the lather while I want it. I will pay more attention the next time I use it and let you know.

Decent shave after two days growth. I've made a decision to stop worrying about how close the shave is and worry about smoothness. The alum bit in places I suspected it would but I also started trying to hold the straight more traditionally so it's feels like I'm starting all over. In some spots the grip did feel like it gave more control but also just felt awkward at the same time and nothing that can't start to feel normal.

no matter what you do, using a straight razor is sort of like learning to ski—it feels awkward as heck for the first dozen times or so and eventually you build muscle memory, your coordination improves, and the results become increasingly easier to achieve—and it starts to be fun! :happy088: Practice, practice, practice…..

30 day rule: razor and cold water shave

    sotd0.jpg

    RAZOR: MAGGARD 18C
    BLADE: PERMA-SHARP (1ST USE)
    BRUSH: OMEGA S SYNTHETIC
    SOAP: STERLING GLACIAL LEMON CHILL
    POST: STEPHANS ISLAND LIME (ICED)

Had a great shave today. It seems like the cold water has been cutting down on the irritation but I could be my imagination. this was my first go at Sterling soaps and it was about as cold as the soaps I added menthol crystals to which is darn cold! the Island Lime added another cold menthol rush. 3 pass BBS. I hope everyone has a great shave!

Forgot to change, so day five on the blade...I again stuck with the shave stick method, and was again treated to a great 2 Pass DFS. Face felt so good afterward I went straight Veg, no chaser. had a good afternoon in Denver and now in for the night. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a great Sunday!

World Tournament of Blades - Russia vs. the World!!
    June 20, 2015
Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - VDH Boar
    Soap - Arko
    Razor - '59 Superspeed
    Blade - sharp-star.jpg (2)
    Post - Alum, Nivea Balm

Last bracket of the Russians in the Quarterfinals and it's the Sharp Star up again. This blade has intrigued me since first discovering it and it continues to rank among my top blades. So, here we go as it goes up against the Ladas. VDH Boar and Arko for the awesome lather and the first pass was nice and smooth. The blade seems to have kept its sharpness into the second use and felt great. Lathered for the XTG and it went well too, but maybe not as close as the first round. However, it's in a different razor. Finished with ATG/G-slide on the neck with a very nice DFS and called it. I might have gotten BBS but I didn't want to overdo it and add irritation for no good reason. A point is a point so let's lose it on the finish.

Scoring - Sharpness, still a 1. Smoothness...a 1 though maybe not quite as perfect as the first round. Still no issues. Irritation, hit the alum and just the slightest of twinges so a 1 there. Finish? DFS is a 2.

    Total - 5

Matches the Voskhod but is not perfect this round as it was in the first. Difference in razors or is the blade perhaps not as good with use? We'll see in a few days. The Ladas tries to beat it tomorrow! Hope your Saturday was a good one...mine was busier than I would normally like but after a week of rain everybody was ready to look at cars!

This razor isn’t real flashy, and isn’t a name that is well recognized, but it is a great shave! I won this on SRP as part of their Monthly Giveaway in May. I have yet to get a bad shave from it. Today was a two pass plus touch up, and ended up with a DFS, and quiet Alum. Soap lathered awesome, and I had more than enough for two and half passes after loading the brush for 20 seconds.
    Have a great Father’s Day!

My first shave ever using this newly-acquired and freshly-honed vintage C-MON Cadillac. As with other CMONS I've used, this Caddy required little effort on my part to take a keen edge. This was also the first razor off my new Naniwa honing regimen (Super Stone 1k, 5k, 8k, 12k—fabric/leather strop). Silky-smooth edge. Using it in conjunction with the MWF, the resulting shave was, not surprisingly, quite comfortable! Off to a good start for a five-day run! :happy088:
Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!:eatdrink047:
