On the plus side of things, we are now home from the hospital. Spending the better part of the week in a pediatric ICU room with glass walls, I'm beginning to understand why caged monkeys throw poo at onlookers. Privacy restrictions aside, the staff were phenomenal, and while my daughter is probably a few weeks away from full strength, she is doing much better than she was. We made our first real trip into public today and she held up well, so that was worth celebrating with lattes and cookies.

I got my new post shave balms in from Lisa's Natural, and a puck of her newest scent, Gentlemen's Lavender. The balms were the matching scent to this soap and a match for my Cedar and Sandalwood soap, which she was kind enough to mix up for me.

I shaved last night with the Cedar & Sandalwood combo and my new-to-me Kampfe Brothers Star Lather Catcher. The razor took off a few days of hospital scruff quite effectively. This guy will be seeing a lot of use in the near future. It's a totally unique feel. It gives a lot of tactile response because of the way the blade is held. It almost feels like it is floating. It's hard to describe, but I like it. A LOT. The Cedar & Sandalwood Balm was fantastic. A little went a long way, and the scent held really well. I got good whiffs of it well into my day.

The Gentlemen's Lavender combo is up tonight. I've yet to find a lavender scent that I really get along with, but initial impressions with this are promising.

I appreciate all the prayers, guys. Keep them coming for her, as she still has a ways to go before full recovery. Please pray for my wife as well. Having this happen right on the heels of her father passing has been a tremendous load for her to bear, both physically and emotionally.

Enjoy the lather like a gentleman would, and it's good to hear that she's out of the hospital. It's the best place to recover. For one thing, she'll be allowed to sleep through the night without someone coming in to see if she's sleeping okay :)

Prayers continue for strength and recovery for your daughter and patience and serenity for her family.

In aromatherapy, I believe lavender is considered to have great qualities of calming and relaxation, so your new Gentlemen's Lavender soap might be highly appropriate right now...

Nahhh. Coating are marketing hype. For what part of a blade tnat touches your skin it does not matter. Not with my shaves anyway.

    Yup. This is true.

    Yup! Nice and easy.

Fine Platinum is one of my favorite aftershave scents so I had to try their soap. The scents are a perfect match to my nose. I have found all the Fine Soaps easy to lather, slick and good post shave feel. The Fine Soaps do seem to leave more of a white residue on my razors. Not as bad as some other soaps but it's still an issue. This little Damaskeene OC is such a smooth shaver but still efficient. Three passes and touch ups had me scaring the baby to death. A splash of Fine Platinum aftershave and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Good news! Keep hanging in there. We will keep praying. I'd recommend that you guys take some vacation time to rest & regroup before the summer is over!

No kidding. I had my first hospital stay last year. Long story short, it was caused by a drug reaction to ambien I was using to offset insomnia. What do they do in the hospital, take away my sleeping medication (good idea) and then put me next to a beeping monitor and wake me up every 2-3 hours to check my vitals and poke me with something -- You know I'm in here because of INSOMINA, right? Does waking me up when I finally fall asleep make any sense to any of you?!?! This argument apparently didn't jibe with hospital policy that was clearly drafted by liability attorneys. Stupid hospitals.

That brush reminds me that I need to get back on my "giant shell casing brush" idea.

Shave report for the last two days. OMG do I love B&M Latha! Better than just about anything, OK maybe anything period! Best Lather (or Latha) ever, and the scents are awesome! Oceana is my favorite aqua scent. Makes me feel like I just finished surfing (that hasn't happened in over 30 years, so that's a pretty big deal in my world). Yesterday was Tiaga - the best pine/woodsy scent ever! Who knew a soap and AS combination could make you happy for a whole morning - powerfull stuff. Today I branched out to Limon - very similar to Stirling Lemon Chill but with a tiny bit of orange hint in it and no menthol. I'm not a big "menthol bomb" kinda guy for everyday shaves, so this is my favorite "go to" lemon. Tomorrow I'm gonna dial up the Sandalwood. If they had more scents in this line I'd buy them sight unseen every time. If anyone has any old, discontinued scents in the Latha line they don't love, I'm your man! Happy to beg, borrow, steal, trade or buy my way to more Latha!

Also, I went back to the Fatboy and dialed it up to 6 today. AS stung a bit after, but the shave was outstanding. Maybe I'll put it on 7 tomorrow and work on tweaking in the shave a bit; then dialing up the Slim to see how they compare. I'm still not sure why it shaves so differently than the slim. Maybe the combination of the fat cap and my fat face prevent proper blade angle? Who knows. @Screwtape is hooking me up with a Fatboy to compare mine with. If they shave any differently, mine may go out to Delta Echo for a cerakote job and adjustment. If they shave the same, it still may go out for a cerakote job and adjustment. More to come.

14 June 2017 Flag Day Blade Focus Shave!!

Pre: Hot water, soap off the puck and a hot towel
    Razor: Schick Krona circa ?
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    Brush: Omega 10098
    Soap: Catie's Bubbles "Florentine Fern"
Post/After Shave: Hot/Cold rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
    Speick for Men After Shave

This morning I used a new soap that I got from Catie's Bubbles, "Florentine Fern". It's a fougere, whatever that means. All I know is it smells very nice. The lather that the big Omega boar whipped up was slick and protective. The Krona/GSB continues to mow down my weekday stubble. Andrew @Linuxguile I really appreciate you donating this great razor to The Shaveys.
Splashed on some Speick After Shave, and Hump Daaay was on!
    Have a great day everyone.
