Same here Jason. Except for my final shave of May I stuck to just three different razors. My Squirrel is in recession while Adam's @Drygulch is in ascension.

    Some good choices for 1958 Gillettes. I see in the attached chart;
Date Code "D"- Super Speed Flare Tip, Blue & Red Tip, 1st year Fat Boys, or there's the mid production run Toggle.

Nice collection, Joseph! Thanks for sharing. Let me know if you want to try some Vulfix lavender shave cream. I'll send you some if you're interested. No worries if not interested. I see you've got the Fine splash - really like that scent. I look forward to seeing all these shaves over the month. Glad you're here!

She seems to be OK. Enough that my wife and I left her with a babysitter. She and the other kids pushed us out the door. They didn't bother telling us not to let the door hit us on the way out.

    June 1st
    Razor: EJ de89
    Blade: Derby Extra
    Brush: RR Bruce
    Pre shave: Proraso Sensitive Skin
    Soap: Proraso Sensitive Skin
    Thayers Cucumber
    AS: Proraso

Happy June 1st gentlemen! Great shaves and photos to start the month!

Just for fun I decided to go with just the basics. The EJ is a comfortable razor but it takes a lot of touch up. I did my normal shave, rinsed, touched up, rinsed, touched up. I did this a couple more times before I called it. The razor sounded like it was cutting but leaving the stubble behind. Maybe a sharper blade although the Derby Extra wasn't at all tuggy. I ended up CCS+ with very little feedback from the alum. Comfort great, closeness lacking.

    Have a great weekend guys![IMG]

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Friday June 1 - drugstore basics shave
    Gillette SensorExcell (4)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood Tuxedo brush
    Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream
Thayers Witch Hazel Original Astringent and Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue

It occurred to me that the Gillette cart was a drugstore razor, so I decided to try for a "basics" shave. The SOC synthetic is the closest I can come to a "drugstore" brush now so it's the thought that counts there. And I am still trying to kill off the Vitos tub, but I believe the Vitos creams are "drugstore" at home in Italy. Thayers WH is a standard basic aftershave remedy and was in fact the main one I used daily for my first year here. As for the AV, this is a classic vintage bottle of it. how vintage? I bought it in my teens or early twenties at my local drugstore and it's in a glass bottle...

The result was a good shave. The AV isn’t my favourite splash but it's not bad and the face feel is good, including the mild menthol kick. In fact, I may just repeat this setup while I work on finishing off the Vitos cream and using up the SensorExcell cart.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

My DE 89 seems to only work well, with really sharp blades. I usually use a Gillette Nacet with mine, and usually get a DFS +.
