Being the ever helpful Boy Scout, I agreed to find homes for the remnants of Perry's @PLAla Soap Pass Around Box. In his soon to be homeless situation, pending the sale of his present home, clearing out clutter presented me with a box o' soap.
Before I move them on a test lather of products new to me seems to follow the Spirit of the Box. The Recurve scent is not listed as an available option. May be for the very light scent emulating Claiborne's Curve with a mix of lavender, ginseng, sandalwood, vetiver, and others the soap is fresh but unremarkable. Lather seemed a little fluffy but it was my first try at it. Plenty slick and good on the residual, no dissapation, clean rinsing, with no ill effects. Choose the texture finished G-1 for the good service last use. Wasn't disappointed this three pass plus clean up. This particular blade holder catches stubble others miss. Finished with an AS concoction by Tom @twhite made from a blend of EO, witch hazel, and Everclear. A very fine shave on a rainy day.

Thanks, Charlie. Much appreciated. The surgeon worried me when he originally described the break as bad and complicated, but he seemed able to get the jigsaw pieces fit back together remarkably well, and as far as I can tell, it is all healing back together correctly. Touch wood...

 

Thursday June 21 - just fun shave

Supply Co V.2 Single Edge injector on plate #2 / Personna ( 20)
JR #267 birdseye maple and boar brush
Fendrihan Lavender Sandalwood soap sample
Alum and TSD Milk Aftershave Lavender

I last used this setup on May 22, albeit with my now-finished Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream. Today I returned to testing this blade's endurance. The boar brush easily face lathered two passes worth of excellent lather. The razor was smooth as it wiped the lather and whiskers away. However the result was not as good a DFS as usual. I am not sure if the problem was insufficiently taut skin stretching or a blade that is smooth but no longer sharp enough.

I will try this setup again tomorrow, paying closer attention to skin stretching. After that, if the result is still some rough patches, I will declare the blade done at 21 shaves and bank it.

Sounds like a great shave Rick! Whats the Bound and Shagged smell like? Have you sniffed anything else that comes close ?

20 shaves is probably double what I would even attempt.

No discernable or stand out scent. It's light and reminds me of fresh laundered cotton sheets. Must have similar perfume notes to a laundry detergent my mother used when I was a child. The shop Tom linked doesn't sell AS, but if you purchase their EO it's the straight up scent that he turned into a pleasant post shave product.

Are you talking about the soap or the AS ? I was asking about the AS

 

The AS. In a spritz bottle there is witch hazel, everclear alcohol, the B & S EO, and I think glycerin. I think the Klein Spa website list the blend of oils.

I figured I'd step things up a bit for today and go with the Dollar Store Dorco in a Red Tip. Still smooth and definitely very sharp. I discovered the latter not once but twice when I set the razor down wrong and nicked myself. Still... a satisfying shave, overall.

 

Sorry, but you can't trust an ice cream man.

I like the kamisori. That one has been on my list for quite some time. How do you like the shave?
